Most trail mixes have something with gluten. They contain pretzels, sesame sticks, and often other things. Finding a gluten-free option for a mix has been difficult. When first searching, a lot of single types of rice crackers came up, but I didn't see trail mixes. Finally, I found this. It has a good mix of types of rice crackers. They always come fresh and have a great crunch. They crackers themselves lack a lot of flavor. There is one spicy rice stick, but everything else is bland. I also wish it had peanuts of almonds or cashews - some kind of nut. It's not bad, but it is also not special. Even a little soy or tamari sauce in the cooking process would add a lot. On the other hand, these are good for a snack, healthy, and give you the crunch you sometimes crave.

These come in a well sealed bag so they are crunchy, but as with almost all rice snacks I have ever tried they are not very flavorful but I knew that when I bought them. Remember large companies typically make products to suit what they consider the broadest base. However, anyone can add flavor to these fairly easily. First you might want to experiment with small batches. In a bowl allowing for space to mix add some rice snacks. If you want them spicy, take a small bowl and mix some soy sauce and hot sauce together then sprinkle it on the snacks, stir it in well then place in a preheated oven at 180 to 200 degrees for 10 or so minutes, stir and do another 10 minutes. If the layer of snacks is thick it will take longer or if you are in a more humid area it will also. If you don't want spicy try teriyaki sauce or what ever tickles your taste buds. The amount you put on can determine how much flavor you taste. Again I would suggest experimenting with small batches. Also doing different small batch flavors then combining them can result in a good mouth party when you have a hand full. By the way, these snacks are generally smooth so they don't soak up flavor like sesame sticks might, so it may be hard to create a strong flavor.

Taste just like what you get in Asian trail mix. I took a chance against low star reviews saying these taste like cardboard. They do not taste like cardboard. lol. They taste like baked rice crackers we all dig around for in the mix of peas and peanuts.. they are crunchy and have that slight salty/soy glaze. Poverty happy with my purchase. The people saying they taste bland and of cardboard might be expecting a more “so-hot” mix flavor from bulk bins of the past. These are what you’re looking for if you’re searching rice crackers.!!

My Nuts USA 2 pound bag of rice crackers arrived today, and I had high hopes that my longing for some delicious senbei, Japanese style rice crackers, would be fulfilled at the seemingly reasonable price of $17.95 for a large bag. Well it turns out that Nuts USA makes its rice crackers in China, and they look a lot like real Japanese senbei, but they have an odd smell when you open the bag, and then are completely tasteless when eaten. The packaging is nice, and the bag was sealed properly, but as soon as I opened the bag a sort of odd plastic smell emerged - not what is expected coming from a bag of rice crackers. After eating a few, I noticed a hard crunchy texture rather than a pleasant mouth feel as they have a shellac-like coating. The ingredients read as the proper ones for rice crackers, yet with soy sauce as the #2 ingredient, they had no savory flavor, just the same flat and tasteless flavor for every type of cracker included in the bag. Anyway, they are going right back to Amazon for a refund, and I suppose I will go back to the more expensive Japanese or Thai [packed in vacuum cans] senbei and call this a lesson learned. It is strange how difficult it is to find senbei oriental rice crackers that are fresh, flavorful, healthy and authentic as I had in Japan. While trying to stay away from MSG, it narrows down the field, so when I noticed these Nuts USA had no MSG, and that they offered a generous 2 pound bag, I got my hopes up. They were dashed as soon as I opened the bag and ate a few. Too bad.

The taste is terrible. One particular type of little cracker tasted like perfume. The others had no taste at all. Do not waste your money on this product. I’ve had many snacks like this type of little rice cracker and this is by far not consumable.
