Great PS2 controller option, perfect size, works great
I was looking for a PlayStation 2 controller recently after dusting off my console after 17 years. I saw this beautiful hyperkin controller and it looked bigger than a standard PS 2 controller. I got it in silver and fell in love with it. Plugged it in works great. Size fits my big hands perfectly. Controls are responsive and it's a beautiful silver color that really stands out and great quality.

No pressure sensitive buttons, chord too short, sticks too tall.
I bought this specifically to play Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3. The cord is too short but I got around that problem by daisy chaining two extension cables. The real problem is that the face buttons are not pressure sensitive. Odd because the shoulder buttons are but without pressure sensitive face buttons this controller is useless for two of the largest game series on the console. Namely Metal Gear Solid and the GTA games. Massive L. Also the sticks are too tall and will cause discomfort over time. I will be returning this controller.

Love it.
It is almost an exact oem controller. The thumbsticks even feel like the OG's! Is the design a little weird? Sure, but I instantly forgave it for how it felt to hold and play with. The shell molding isnt perfect either as when the two halves meet, its a little rough looking, but again, forgave it for how it felt. Had a "oem" weighting feel, the buttons were of oem quality too, probably the closest to a brand new controller thats as close as it can be to sony's. Only, and i mean only, gripe i have of it, is the cable is wayyyy too short. If they doubled the length, it would of been a perfect controller to me. But I still plan on buying 3 more so i have extras if this one ever gets too old or broken in the distant future.

So Close to Great
I’ve had the worst luck with OEM DualShock controllers, so I’ve been searching for the best modern third party alternatives. This is the best I’ve found from a reputable brand! However, it comes with some pros and cons: Pros: - The button travel/feeling is similar to a DualShock - Pressure sensitive - The L2/R2 shoulder buttons are actually buttons! Most third party controllers now have Xbox-style fully analog triggers that don’t translate well to PSX/PS2 games. - Great feeling D-pad! Not PlayStation-style, but has great tactile feedback - The rubber on the analog sticks feel OEM - Rumble works well. - Slightly larger than a DualShock, fits comfortably in your hand. - Feels solid, nice weight Cons: - Short cable. Nowadays, I expect at least a 10ft cable. So I must use an extension cable. A wireless option would be great. - The analog sticks are a bit too sensitive. - May not work well for non-analog PSX games on an original “fat” PS2. In PSX games without analog support (ex: Castlevania SOTN, original release of Resident Evil) the directional buttons rapidly trigger when held down. It acts as if a turbo mode is enabled. This makes player movements and menu navigation almost impossible. This does not happen with other controllers or on the PS2 slim. My theory is that it requires more power than an average controller, and the Slim provides some additional voltage. It could be an isolated issue to my console, but make sure you test this when you’re still in the return period. This will still be my primary controller (at least on the PS2 Slim). However, I would love to see Hyperkin address these shortcomings.

Either defective or badly designed
Not sure if I got a defective one, but the X button functions like a turbo fresh out of the box. Makes some games unplayable.

I like it!
Recently I bought my second PS2 — a silver one — along with many games I didn’t have before. I discovered that my transparent Chinese controllers are almost useless for many of them, especially for football (I don’t really play shooters). They only support 4 directions. This controller, however, is excellent. I like it both visually — it matches my silver PS2 perfectly — and functionally. I have big hands, and it feels very comfortable to hold. So far I haven’t noticed any issues. The analog sticks definitely support 8 directions. All in all, it’s a solid product, and I’ll definitely buy another one.

Too big
Wasn't happy. The handles didn't need to be so wide causing my thumbs to stretch. The R2 butting became defective quickly and the cable housing started to break. I liked the design. Not ideal for replacement. Try a better brand.

A Perfect Substitute For Your Original Controller
The controller is amazing. It's large size fits comfortably in my huge hands. The buttons and the control stick are all responsive and I didn't suffer any delay or input lag when I use it. The D-Pad is cross shaped and it's big enough that it works well with 2D games.

Great Performance Despite Unusual Shape
The shape feels a bit awkward, but it performs exceptionally well. Responsive buttons and comfortable for gameplay once you get used to it.
