Puzzled by current photos
When writing my review, the item displayed didn't resemble anything I ordered. The item I received was a Lego compatible motor for use in Lego (or other manufacturer's) toy sets. Many of the advanced Lego sets (especially cars) have the ability to accept a motor that will allow them to be driven like a remote controlled car. This set enables that.Motors worked fine and completely compatible with my Lego sets.AGAIN, what I ordered, and received, is NOT what the current listing shows.

very cool, but some caveats
I like this Lego engine set, but it has some pros and cons to be aware of.Pros:- you can motorize some of your lego vehicles if it has wheels- has a remote control tooCons:- takes up a lot of batteris with 6 AAs in the main part, and 3 AAA's in the remote- weighs a lot for Lego standards due to all those batteries and is a bit bulky- the bulkiness makes it difficult to build around it which is the worst part as there aren't many areas where pieces can connect to the engine and motors, therefore stifling ease of use and build. So while these is definitely a little thrill when you turn it on and the wheels start spinning...it then also got a little frustrating...as I could not get it "on the road" with the set I had available to work with it. The biggest problem with it is that the 2 motors where the wheels connect to....dont have any connecting lego parts except just right on the bottom. but for a wheel....you need the wheel to be on the ground...so you cant have anything underneath it. Therefore if it just had the connecting pieces upside down...that would have been way better, and way easier to deal with. As the other set I was trying to implement with it did not have any upside down pieces...so I could not incorporate the motors of the wheels into the set. (It had wheel wells like many sets will probably have - so you can't really connect this easily to a set with normal wheel wells - just a major complication for no reason really.) It also doesn't come with any pieces to help you incorporate it into sets either. The main battery housing is also bulky and heavy for lego standards so it adds a lot of weight, and space, to whatever you are building. So you wont be able to build anything too small, thus stifling a lot of possible builds. and the main engine pieces also lack good connections on them, so again, it is awkward trying to incorporate it into other sets as it only has holes in either the bottom, or if you have some rods on the sides...and thats it. Thus making it a bit frustratingly limiting in how to build around it and incorporate it. But...if you have a decent lego collection you will likely have enough varied pieces to work around this and make something happen. But if you were to give it as a gift, say with a lego car or some sort...that would not work well unless they also already have a big lego collection, with enough varied pieces to properly connect these bulky and kindof odd fitting engines.Bottom line: It definitely works, and the remote is pretty cool. But you also only get 2 wheel engines so you wont be geting 4 wheel drive. and you also have to build your own wheel wells too and incorporate the other 2 wheels as this is just 2 wheels. As well it is bulky and a bit heavy so its just a bit burdensome to build around. but...if you like a challenege...it does work well in that regard to possibly challenge the builder to come up with the solutions needed to build around its many contraints. So if you are up for a bit of a challenge, and have lots of pieces available..this may be a fine set for some people. But if you want something that works easily, and wont overly complicate things, you may not prefer this set.
