Laughed my head off!
This book is precious. Gets the important ideas of the parables across with hilarious illustrations. Especially loved the one about the camel and the eye of the needle. Terrific book for children.

Some very good high points and few relatively small concerns
Pros:Very easy to read/ short sentencesBreaks down the parables in a very easy to understand wayArt is very cuteEngaging to preschool aged childrenThe precious pearl - very well presented and the ending is perfect: - "Jesus says, 'God is like the merchant's pearl. It costs everything to know him. But he is worth more than anything in the world"Cons:Parable 1 about the shepherd going searching for the 1 lost sheep out of 99 doesn't quite get the point at the end - "Jesus says, 'God is like the farmer. He loves us just like the farmer loves his sheep" - It kind of ends with a "wah wah". You would have to further explain why that one sheep is important. He cares about each of us individually. He goes after each of us when we are lost. However, the whole parable up to this page is presented excellently. The Little Gate Parable - Mark 10:25 - A camel goes through a small gate called the "eye of the needle" - the point being rich people can go to heaven as long as they are humble. Since this parable is often debated it seemed a little difficult for me to want to teach our children at church this. (If my purpose was home my review might be different). I think it would plant something in their minds about the parable that has nothing to do with the Bible, which I'm pretty against. Still, it is presented very well and I'm considering keeping the book for our children's program at church due to the last line on the page. Here are the lines -"Without his fine saddle, the camel does not look proud and important any more. He is just an ordinary camel. Once more the camel tries. Down on his knees, shuffling forward, inch by inch, until finally...Hooray! He is through. Jesus says, "It is very hard for a rich man to get into heaven. It's easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle.

Great early Bible training for children
The illustrations are adorable and the paraphrased parables are very relatable for young children. I also love that the Bible quotes are included.

Family Favorite
We received this book as a gift over 20 years ago when our sons were small. We used it for many years establishing a habit of morning family devotion time. The boys loved the fun wording.I took it to Africa on a mission trip to serve in the primary schools. The children loved the wonderful animations.Every “new baby” gift has this book attached. My prayer is that it is printed for many years to come.

All time favorite Inspirational Children's Book
Twenty-five years ago I discovered Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen's singular books of the Parables of Jesus. I bought every one I could find. Having read them all to our eight children, they were worn ragged. What a delight when this multiple-story volume was published. The narrative is simply and beautifully taught. I'm not sure who enjoys the reading more, me or the kids. I love the illustrations of Mick Inkpen who is well known for his other children's books. This book is by far my all-time favorite inspirational children's book. I've purchased it many times over for friends and family. Another copy is coming for grandchild #14.

A must for every home and church nursery!
I am sorry that these stories are not published individually anymore, but am so excited to be able to have the collection! The parables are easy for children to understand. The illustrations are wonderful! One little fellow I know loves to look for “the man with the boo boo.” He is learning sympathy and empathy at an early age. A must in every home and church nursery!

Perfect for assemblies
Well written and illustrated, perfect for Key Stage One children. The best thing is they are a proper story length unlike most 'assembly' books. Really nice and not 'overly' religious.

a fresh approach
This is great for children 5-8, at home or church. A bit small for school classroom use. Lovely art work.

Simply excellent
We bought this books to teach our 8 year old son parables from the Bible which Jesus told. We are really very happy with this book. It explains the parables with pictures in a way a child can understand. With pictures its more easy for the child to imagine and remember the story. Also the exact passage from the Bible is also described before the story starts. So that way we can read what the Bible exactly says and then then followed by the pictorial story. The correct & main essence of the story from the Bible was kept . My son just loved it. He read the book in 2 days. It would have been nice if all the parables very available. I am ordering more of them as a gift. I would highly recommend this book. This book arrived in quickly and in good condition.

Same book, new cover
I ordered this for school, not realising that we already had a copy with a different (green) cover called Stories Jesus Told (or similar). Although disappointing, a spare copy is always useful in a larger primary school. That said, it is a perfect book for telling the stories to young children (despite its small size for classes, they love it).
