understanding prebiotics
~ inulin prebiotic, as in food to keep the healthy bacteria alive & well in your gut which helps maintain a healthy immune system, fiber powder is a light fine white powder, sweet in taste, sticky in texture.....is a consistently good & easy to consume product containing FOS. current research tells us that GOS (look this up) is also an important prebiotic, one that certain intestinal conditions need or respond better to than FOS alone. after 30 years knowing about FOS, & my condtion not getting better, i am thankful there is another hope ~ this is a great price on the inulin, thank you!

Dissolves easily!
This is top quality inulin! I used to be a fan of FiberSure which, like this, was chicory inulin from Belgium. Then Metamucil bought the company and it became more expensive and almost impossible to find. Have tried just about every other manufacturer/purveyor and have been distressed to find that some, like NOW foods, use inulin from China. Not only do I find that unacceptable but the quality is definitely inferior - instead of being crystalline which dissolves easily, it is powdery and just clumps. Swanson's is top quality chicory inulin from Belgium. It is crystalline so it dissolves easily in liquids and can be added to baked goods. Plus it comes in a screw top jar, which is really important when you are dealing with a crystalline substance such as this, for it makes it easier and neater to use. It even comes with a handy little scoop inside. I really like, and wholeheartedly recommend, this product!

Quality Regularity Enhancer
Works good, for irregularity. As I have found, will not work if you only use this product constantly. For me, I have to switch between products weekly or so.I like the fact that I can mix into almost anything & it will mix in or not be a taste/texture issue. I have added to smoothies, yogurt--tends to try to clump, cottage cheese, coffee--didn't mix in really good, was chunky at the bottom of cup. I've added it as an afterthought to the top of spaghetti. I haven't added it to baked goods, I know its possible, b/c I have purchased other items with it in them. But, my family would not appreciate my doing that, so I just add it to my stuff. It does have a slight sweet flavor. Not sickeningly, though. Easy to use, has a tiny scoop, so you get the right amount--no guessing.

The best active ingredient for me
I initially used the active ingredient in this stuff years ago in a different product. I have tried so many other products that have other active ingredients. They didn't work for me at all. This one does! I simply add it to my coffee or oatmeal and presto! No more stomach issues. Its gotta be magic!I even add this to homemade dog food without any issue whatsoever. If he could taste it he wouldn't eat. He's a picky eater so I trust that it is truly tasteless. Its inexpensive, the container holds a months supply easily, has no taste, and actually works. My only issue is that it doesn't melt into my hot beverages. It tends to sink to the bottom in a lump and requires frequent stirring to help break it up so it goes down. I haven't had the same issue with hot foods like oatmeal though. I can't imagine that it would ever dissolve in cold liquids or food. Still 5 stars!

Chicory inulin
Potency and purity "promise". Not organic, not non-gmo, and no manufacturing info. In a world full of bad supplements, swansons wants us to just take their word on it. I'll pay a little more next time.

Excellent Fiber and Prebiotic
Please note I suffer from pretty severe IBS, so my perspective on this product is based solely on my specific intestinal needs, I don't know if someone with a completely healthy digestive system would have the same experiences.I have tried a lot of fibers over the years, and done a lot of reading on the subject of types of fiber. Before purchasing inulin I suggest you do a little reading -for example some probiotics have made my digestion freeze up- and start with a small does to test the results, everyone is different. For me Inulin works both by keeping my gut bacteria fed and healthy and by acting as a traditional fiber without a lot of work or extra thinking on my part. I use a half scoop every night in a large glass of water and I feel great! If i am having some issues adding another half a scoop (and double the water) can help relieve my symptoms, instead of having to turn to stronger laxative type products. Please note, Swanson is stronger than other Inlin i have tried, I strongly suggest starting with a small dose and working your way up to a level that makes you comfortable.
