California Crazy: American Pop Architecture

Very entertaining to take a look back at what once attracted folks!

A great book with only one minor complaint. It is based upon southern California architecture and would have liked to see coverage of the entire state.

This explains that due to the creation of vehicles California was built with cars in mind. Eye-catching structures were built to draw in customers. This features eye-catching buildings, vehicles, homes, and even studio back lots. Insightful.

I buy a considerable amount of large format Taschen books. I'm a bit addicted to them. They rarely, if ever, disappoint but I have to say this one leaves me a little flat. There's something 'dull' about the contents - the photos and/or layout, perhaps ... or the combination of both. The cover speaks to me - "fun and frivolity inside!", but once I'm past the ticket box and into the tent, a feeling of melancholy pervades. No matter, it's still a good one to have and it won't yet swerve my appetite for all things Taschen.

Questo è davvero un bellissimo libro per chi come me ama la California. Ci sono tantissime immagini che ripercorrono tutti gli edifici più stravaganti che ci sono stati o che ancora ci sono nella bellissima California. Lo consiglio vivamente!

Gros livre de 319 pages avec environ 50 pages de texte en anglais, beaucoup de photos principalement en noir et blanc et datant un peu. Au vue de la couverture, je ne m'attendais pas du tout à ce contenu

Très intéressant à découvrir. Ce volume offre un éclairage inattendu de la Californie sous un aspect parfois très farfelu. Amusant et bien réalisé.
