Love the nuggets!
Purchased 03/24 and writing review in 05/25.Pros: Makes ice fast; Perfect-sized nuggets; Extra water tank is essential when you have friends over; Easy to clean and maintain, which is essential for proper operationCons: Can get noisey; Requires cleaning just about every 21-25 days, regardless of water type (tap, filtered, distilled); Does impact you electricity bill (but totally worth it).Overall: 5 stars...one of the best kitchen gadget purchases we have ever made. We have experimented with different water types to determine impact to overall operation, length of time between cleanings, and flavor of ice...all negligible. We just use tap water now, and gave up on the hassle of distilled water delivery. Pro tip - when it says to clean it, do it and don't wait. 4 cycles (1 with bleach, 3 without) takes an hour and keeps this thing purring along.

Don't waste your money!
I regret purchasing this item and should have returned it immediately. I took a chance because my wife and daughters love nugget ice, and I trusted the GE brand to deliver quality. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. From the start, setup was a nightmare. The machine was stuck in self-clean mode during the initial setup, which took a lot of effort to resolve. Once it started working, the ice maker did produce nugget ice as advertised, but it was extremely noisy from the beginning—and the noise only worsened over time.Maintenance was another hassle. Cleaning the machine was cumbersome and needed to be done frequently to keep it running. Then, just 14 months after purchase, the machine completely stopped making ice. The warranty only covered the first year, and GE's only solution was to send a repair technician—at my expense—costing hundreds of dollars. For such an expensive product, I expected better warranty support, but I was left disappointed. In frustration, I scrapped the GE machine and purchased a Frigidaire Gallery Nugget Ice Maker for a quarter of the price. The Frigidaire has been fantastic—it's quieter, easier to use, and even includes an onboard water tank.Bottom line: DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON GE! It’s disheartening to see how far the quality of their products has declined. Thomas Edison and J.P. Morgan must be rolling in their graves.

Worth it
This is ridiculously expensive but I bought it used (like new) and on sale.Pros: It's quieter than our white noise machine, makes fresh ice faster than you'd believe possible, and that ice is the best, most delicious stuff on the planet.Cons: It takes up a lot of counter space, takes a bit of work to put together, and my dog no longer wants room temperature water.Neutral: No issues with durability, hasn't broken down or anything, bought 6 months ago.

Best RV Appliance
OK if you live in an RV, we all know most don’t have room for ice or to make ice in our freezers. We might be limited on counter space as well, so I have to say my RV friends. This icemaker might take a little extra room but it it’s worth every inch of space! It makes ice so quickly. I only have to run it for short periods of time to bag the ice to put in the freezer. Don’t hesitate to buy the appliance. It’s best on the market for the RV Life.

DIED! (Updated review below) BEWARE
I waited and waited and read many reviews and finally bought this during prime deal days and I’m so glad I did! Some say it’s runs loud, but it doesn’t bother me. It’s in the kitchen, not my bedroom. I bought the XL tank and love everything about it. I was worried the ice would melt quick in my glass, but it doesn’t. Just buy it!Update 4 months later- I have a love hate relationship with this machine. I get “add water” multiple times a week (sometimes multiple times a day) even when the tank is full. I read online the water line can get air bubbles, so I have to lift the tank, open the drawer then shut it and hold tank for 30 seconds or so to get it going. Gets SO annoying.Cleaning is a pain. I’ve leaked so much water everywhere doing it. Finally this most recent time I think I got the hang of it.Lately machine has just shut off a few times. Ugh. Could be a melted ice mess if I hadn’t noticed. On the positive side, I still don’t think it runs “loud”. It’s in the kitchen so it doesn’t bother me at all.Update 6 months later- I completely removed the side tank. So much better and also easier to clean. We have a family of 4 and I only have to add water a few times a week. Much easier and also smaller and fits better in the corner of the kitchen with out the side tank.18 month update- still going strong and still not using the side tank. I did have a squeaking issue but I googled it and found it needed to be completed defrosted. So I did that and let it sit over night and squeak went away! The scoop broke so I bought a nice metal one. But still overall glad I bought, we use it all day everyday!19 month review- IT DIED!! Motor started getting VERY loud, my husband opened the back and said he could tell motor was toast. With in a few days it made a VERY loud noise and died. This machine WILL NOT LAST YOU! It makes me so sad because it was very expensive and I LOVED it while it worked. So I’m buying a cheapy $100 one because honestly none seem to last and I’ll just buy a new cheapy one every hear. Warranty is expired so this will sadly be going to a landfill

Noisy, Distilled Water Only, but great ice!
Love the ice I make, BUT be aware that: it makes a lot of humming noise when it is producing ice which can take a few hours, YOU have to ONLY use distilled water (& it takes a LOT of water!) I own 2 distillers or I would have never kept it, & YOU have to break it down & Use a lot more distilled water & a lot of vinegar. IF these reasons don’t discourage you, then I would give it a 5 Star. Wasn’t aware all that was needed when ordered but the ice is great & I love drinking water more because of it. But you have to be committed to want it.
