Question 1

Are they stable enough to be carried in emergency packs in each of our cars?

Accepted Answer

I can't attest to the maximum temperature the product can handle before it self-ignites. The seller mentioned deformation at 140°F, but in the sun, in a hot climate, the interior can quickly get to that temperature and keep going. A lot of electronics protect themselves by not working above 168°F. I've seen it happen to my car's touchscreen on a 85-90° day on the SoCal coast around noon when parked in the sun. So what do you think is gonna happen to a black truck without sunshades at 128° in the blazing sun in Phoenix at noon on June 27?

Note to vendor: It would be great if you tested this in a safe environment to 250°F so we all know if the product is stable or not. I imagine that it is likely going to be ok since things normally don't self-combust below 300°F, but it's nice to know for sure. Especially if I'm keeping them in a bug out bag. Nothing worse than getting away from the zombies only to find your Suburban ablaze!

Question 2

What chemicals are used in this product?

Accepted Answer

Here is a breakdown of the different materials burning at each stage once the red string has been pulled:
• Seconds 1 - 3 : Safety smoke - designed to let the user know the product has stated
• Seconds 3 - 30 : Eco-friendly formulated flint / powder pack - designed to catch fire to the main brick-portion
• Minutes 0.5 - 30 : Sanding dust & light wax - the housing of the product designed to burn long & hot.

The sawdust and wax is really what is burning here and it burns clean.

I hope this was helpful!

Accepted Answer

Each box is individually wrapped in plastic I can only assume if you don't break the plastic it will work
