Great coffe maker and great show!
I normally don't write reviews but feel pretty strongly about this product. It makes a perfect cup of coffee every time with little more effort than a French press. It is well put together and easy to clean. The glass carraffe is a lot less fragile than it looks, and the chrome finish is flawless. The instructions included were in English and easy to follow with pictures. This must be an improvement over earlier models based on the other reviews I have read. I use medium ground beans and preheat my water in a microwave for 2 minutes prior to brewing and that cuts the time down to about 4.5 minutes. Not much longer than a keurig but a much better cup of coffee! I rinse out the cloth filters and reuse them about 5 times between replacement. If you are handy with a needle and thread, you can make your own very easily. I like my coffe very strong and robust, so I use espresso beans from the local Fresh Market. Overall, this was a good purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who likes mechanical Rue Goldberg like gadgets.

Fascinating end to a nice dinner. Fun to watch!
Saw this on a popular blog and bought one for my coffee-loving son. Looks as good as it does in the pics and is really fun to work. Best used after a nice dinner or as a conversation starter. Guys, if you want to impress your lady after cooking her a nice steak dinner, haul this bad boy out afterwards and make a show of grinding the beans and loading it up. The alcohol burner heats up the water in the cannister with the spigot generating steam pressure which - after about 8 minutes - quickly forces the water through the curved tube into the glass carafe which contains the coffee grounds. After all the water is in the carafe, the cannister is lightened in weight and the counterweight lifts it up, causing the lid to snuff out the burner flame. This lets the cannister cool which creates a vaccuum and sucks the coffee right back into the cannister where it can be immediately dispensed with the spigot. Makes two large cups of coffee, so its a neat way to ease into the after-dinner. The brewing process is fascinating to watch and its fun to guess when the water will come surging across into the carafe. 60 seconds later and you are ready to dispense the coffee. Great fun, and ideal for you steampunk afficionados. FYI, alcohol burner works fine with the kind of gallon cans of it you can get in any paint dept.

Poor design making it impossible to clean the kettle
This product is poorly designed. The kettle where the water is heated is not designed to be cleaned. This would not be a problem if water was the only thing that would be in it but this is where the coffee is dispensed from. There are just two small holes in the kettle, too small for even a bottle brush. They could have designed it so you could unscrew the top of the kettle but that would probably have increased the cost of manufacturing significantly so they went with a cheaper option. Without being able to clean the kettle repeated use will allow for coffee residue to buildup and start to affect the taste of the coffee. I like the idea of this product but this is just a poor design.

Great coffee fun machine dispenser handle gets hot need instructions for where the filter goes
Great product a larger capacity would be nice makes one regular cup of coffee. The dispensing valve gets very hot due to its location near the burner. Use caution when dispensing coffee. Instructions are not clear on where the filter goes. Filter goes on the fluted end of the siphon pipe. Place filter over sieve area drawstring to tighten. That is not shown clearly in instructions or videos. Flavor is great process is fun and brewing time is equal to that of a standard coffee maker.

Excellent!!
Wow. This coffee maker is sleek and beautiful. Well made for the price and very easy to use. Makes a awesome cup of coffee! Just read the instructions and or watch a YouTube video on how to setup and use your new coffee maker. Very easy to use and your definitely going to love it. Only issue I had was the stem that goes into the coffee pot chamber was slightly closed and I needed to use a metal object like a pick to open it up fully. I highly recommend this for yourself or as a gift!!

Captivating and makes wonderful coffee!
We love this coffee maker! Mostly plastic free, it arrives with two plastic accessories, a measuring cup and spoon. The "wood" base is veneer. Our base arrived with two chips in the veneer. Since this flaw is under the cup we don't mind too much. The coffee maker comes with few instructions. The burner requires fuel purchased separately. Denatured alcohol can be found in most paint departments for about $6 per 32 fluid ounces for this purpose. The reusable fabric coffee filter wraps around the end of the syphon that sits in the glass cup. Fill the metal canister with water, place ground coffee in glass cup, light the lamp and wait for action! The end result is a superb cup of coffee. Would recommend to a friend.Improvements would include matching measuring accessories instead of plastic ones, a solid wood base, and something to grip the spigot after heating.

The siphon does not work.
Using denatured alcohol fuel as recommended. The water in the metal pot never gets hot enough to completely move over to fill the glass carafe and thus the siphon does not work. There is no reachable tech support and so I'm left with a nice looking product that doesn't work.
