Perfect thermometer for spa/hot tub/pool
I bought this over 2 years ago after trying several other pool thermometers. I enclosed it in pvc to protect it, and I didn’t want it floating around. The probe is in the end of the tube and the control unit is in the adjoining junction box. It sits neatly on the spa deck with the probe in the water. I painted it brown to blend in.In the two-plus years it had worked flawlessly, providing great accuracy and reliability. I have to change the battery about every 6 months which is easy to do (app shows battery level). In order to extend coverage past Bluetooth range (about 40 feet) I recently purchased the Inkbird wifi gateway. Wow! Now I can see the spa temp on my iPhone from anywhere and it works perfectly. I highly recommend these products (both thermometer and wifi gateway).

used for a terrarium
As a crested gecko owner, I had heard about this product through a Facebook group and wanted to try it out.It comes in a small box, the thing itself is also small so it is not an eye sore (if that would bother you). It is convenient enough to put anywhere. The cord with the metal probe is long enough so there is no worries of accidentally knocking it over if it would have been on a short cord.It does require a Bluetooth connection, as well as 1 AAA battery (not included in box). You do have to download an app onto your phone to hook it up.After I set it up I tested it. It looks more confusing than it actually is once you get used to it.You can pick an choose little icons as to represent what inkbird will be used for. For mine, it is "pet."It automatically logs the temperature data in graphs so you can go back and look at previous data points. It also allows you to set alerts if the temperature or humidity gets too high or too low. You can set the minimum and maximum degrees or percentages. It is helpful, I don't have to look into my geckos terrarium to check the temp or humidity. With inkbird, I can be anywhere in the house and still check on those things.I would recommend that reptile owners give this a try

Performs very well but has limitations to it's usefullness
Pro: Temperature Accuracy Adjustability of logging intervals and data retention Export to .csv Multiple SensorsCon: Closed System Built In ObsolescenceI'm using it for tracking the fermentation temperatures of the beers I brew. I don't pay any attention to humidity, and can't comment on the accuracy of that. I have two probes currently, one on a lager and one on an Ale. I'm using the included remote probe (wired) and have it taped up against the side of the fermentation vessel (until I get stoppers with thermowells). The temperature accuracy is very good (using a ThermoWorks ChefAlarm for comparison). It seems there is a set amount of storage which you can manage by adjusting interval vs retention. I'd like to see an option to turn off humidity tracking in favor of more storage for temperature, but it's not there. If you log temperature every minute it will hold 20 days of data.I'm assuming this means that logging every 10 minutes would get me 200 days of data (handy with some long aging beers like sours or high gravity beers). This should mean that at the slowest logging (30 minutes) it's good for 600 days. Except it's not, which leads me into a negative. The device runs on a non-rechargeable, non-replaceable battery with an expected lifespan of about a year. So the battery dies and you throw the whole thing away. Perhaps at slower logging intervals the battery will last longer, either way I don't like the environmental impact of throwing these into landfills regularly and buying new ones. The only way to access the data on the device is by connecting using their app (I'm using the Android version). The App connects via Bluetooth, but you can't connect to the device outside of the app. This means there is no way to poll for data and push to the internet (for example). I'm curious about the scenario of setting up an old phone, constantly connected, and using IFTTT or something to push data to the Internet but haven't taken the time to experiment yet. It can export it's data as csv, and I uploaded this to google drive and instantly had a spreadsheet with everything logged. While I'm here (with this voice) it would be nice if there was support for the logged data to be included in recipes. Let me be clear, this is not a fault of this product, there simply isn't support in brewing software to attach temperature logs to your brew session (I'm speaking to Beersmith, Brewers Friend, BeerXML, etc). I can see, if I start to log all of my beers, I then have to manually correlate this log to this beer and that log to that beer; sooner or later it's going to get unwieldy.Overall, great product that works very well but it's use is hindered by the closed system, planned obsolescence and lack of ability to import the data into any of the software I use (and that last part isn't their fault).

Big promises fall flat
I have to admit, I was a little too excited to get these and try them out. I bought two of them and immediately was faced with issues.I used the QR code in the box to download the app. Once installed and I put batteries in one of the units, after several try’s, the app found my device and pairs with it. That was the first and last time I could get the app to work with the device. At first it synced and app displayed the temperature at 79 Degrees F… that was nice except that it was 69 degrees F instead. Even though there was a calibration option in the app, there was nothing I could do to enable it or change it. The app then started saying no device found. This problem repeated through several attempts to get it to connect: unpairing, repairing, deleting the device , re adding it, rebooting, removing batteries, trying again… every time, same results.I decided after 30 minutes of monkeying with it that it’s just not worth it. This device is just doesn’t work.I’m on the latest iPhone 14 pro max software.Btw, I also bought a Govee to compare the two against and it works flawlessly for right out of the box.

Perfect,compact,accurate
Ordered Tuesday evening and delivered Thursday afternoon. Well packaged in it's own box. Well made and easy hook up to the engbird app. App is easy to navigate Like the fact that it's a triple A battery. I use this for reptiles. The smart sensor has an external probe, plus the unit has a built in sensor. The sensor and probe are very accurate. Tested with temp gun and seperate humidity meter. My readings have been plus or minus 1 which I think is great for a such a valuable piece of equipment. I have shut my heat off to test the app. App sends an alarm to notify of minimum temp drop. You can set both minimum and maximum temp and humidity on the app. Great feature. I have also used some 3m tape to install in my cage. Do not hesitate to purchase this or any other item by inkbird. Great products and pricing
