Note that I am reviewing the "Notch" design which does not appear to be as good as the other versions. Like many, I also ordered this with dreams of learning how to flip a Balisong around and hopefully look cool doing so. While I didn't read every review, I'm not sure anyone has spoken of it's actual function - a bottle opener. There are also slots for using it as a screwdriver, at least that's my interpretation of the various cut-outs. To that end, great product, great bottle opener, and a cool looking one at that. As far as a Balisong trainer, I think it can be done better. Again, this is for the NOTCH design, and I specify that because my chief complaint is the big ol' bottle opener on the end. That makes it difficult to flip around, and I question how it may impact the experience of using a real Balisong, or a true Balisong training blade. The cut-out slots are also still a bit painful. Sure, it's not a sharp blade, but they're still jagged edges. On that note, no part of mine contained a blade, dull or otherwise. Conclusion: If your buying this as a trainer, I do not recommend the notch design. You may be better off trying the other design on this page, or simply something else all-together. Otherwise, if you want a cool bottle opener, your probably in the right spot!

Absolutely love how practical this trainer knife is. The dull blackened stainless steel "non-blade" offers a realistic weight and feel, making it perfect for safe blade handling practice without the risk. What really sets it apart are the built-in extras. The bottlecap opener and wrench notch add unexpected but super handy functionality. Great training tool with a touch of everyday utility.

I absolutely love this thing! Super easy to use! Material definitely feels durable and quality. The bottle opener is sharp enough to geipand not slip so thats nice. It has some weight to it which tells me its definitely worth the money. It folds nicely, very smooth no catches in the movement. Easy to move you dont have to grab it an force it in any way. The lock pin definitely keeps it shut or open, give it a tight squeeze to lock it in either position. The nut slots on it work very well. I did not notice any deformation during or after use which makes me happy. Not only can you practice but you have a multi tool as you do if you decide to open a bottle while training

I got the black with notch (bottle opener). As a butterfly knife trainer, I find the bottom hard to latch with one hand once I've flipped it around. That said, I do like the functions on the inside. It make for a fun bottle opener and conversation piece. I will say, I did like it enough after reviewing it to buy the orange one with the bottle opener and package opener. Real Rating 3.5-3.75

This butterfly/balisong bottle opener is painted black and has a few different sized hex wrench notches. The latch works well at securely holding it closed, but does occasionally get in the way when flipping open. The bottle opener/blade is fairly blunt to prevent injury when flipping open or closed, and the joints are smooth. The durability of the metal is very good, but the black paint is easily chipped such that it had two small chips after about 20 minutes of use and flipping open. Overall, this is a fun trainer balisong bottle opener.
