Cybernetics: Second Edition: Or the Control and Communication in the Animal and the Machine 2nd Edition

Not a good place to start but read it first anyway. Then come back every year and read it again until you understand.

This is a review of the version published by Quid Pro, LLC.This looked like a nice book. The cover is solid and the main text is clear. But the formulae, which are many, look like low resolution bitmaps (see image). The text also shows through to the other side of the page.It's not clear if this is a legally authorized reprint. See the image of the frontmatter where it says the publisher doesn't hold any copyright. Is this work in the public domain? I couldn't find any indication that it is.

Make sure that your book has all the pages it is supposed to have. Mine has missing 18 pages in the middle (113-130). Such a shame.

Very disappointed with this book ... It starts with an intro that goes on for dozens of pages and the book digresses from there. If you are looking to learn about emergence and self-organization, this book will demoralize you.

Zu dem Inhalt lässt sich relativ wenig sagen. Es handelt sich nun mal um ein Klassiker der Literatur über Kybernetik. Sehr anspruchsvoll und ohne mathematische und kybernetische Vorkenntnisse sicherlich schwer zu verstehen, aber mit etwas Fleiß durchaus machbar und lohnenswert. Die Ausgabe an sich finde ich gut 👍

Many concepts may be known to a reader from the control or communication fields, and the perspective is that of 70 year ago. However, the books is a valuable reading for the philosophy it describes. Some notions are updated even for now. A must for all interested in cybernetics, control, and communication.

Quite a bit of calculus, but this is seminal work. Find out where all of your general notions of the human animal come from (they come from this influential book)
