How To Jive [DVD]

Tried to learn jive and discovered I get very dizzy.Good fun though.

I bought this DVD when I and my partner had had only about 10 lessons and had foolishly allowed ourselves to be entered in a Xmas dance competition. We were naturally panicking, but with the help of this DVD we were able to put together a pretty reasonable routine.You are likely to cover all the moves shown in this DVD in the first six months of any modern jive class, but where the DVD comes in handy is to look at points of technique, especially in slow motion. I find that we still watch the DVD occasionally to try and improve the style of some of our moves because the couple performing on the DVD are SO stylish and accurate in their movements.All in all a good buy for beginners wanting to speed up their learning (and with room to practise the moves at home :-} ).

We have always envied couples who could jive with confidence so about 4 years ago we purchased the "How to Jive" on video tape. We made some progress but soon other factors delayed progress, also the video player packed in. About six month ago we joined a beginners jive class and the instructer recommended the "How to Jive DVD" remembering how good it was we immediately purchased the DVD. What a difference technology makes, the DVD has the same material but it is so easy to review the different routines during practice ensuring you can go over and over it until it sinks in, so much so that we have made good progress, well, we think so!We would recommendit to any budding Jiver! PS. we are both retired and it's so good at keeping one young.

This is a good beginners intructional DVD. Sadly, an old-fashioned production. Also very sadly, about a quarter of the content is wasted on demonstrations of advanced group dancing of various forms of jive. No 'contents' page, - thus random access of a particular move is only available by clicking on the fast forward or back symbols, using the listing on back of DVD case.

This is a great Jive DVD ideal for beginners. Like all learning it requires a little effort. The DVD introduces different types of Jive and then demonstrates seven sets of Jive figures. The first set starts with basic moves and handholds. Set seven demonstrates some simple acrobatic Jive moves. There are a number of intermediate figures like the Pretzel in set six. This looks impossible but is in fact really simple when you get the hang of it. Viewers will think it’s amazing. Have fun and don't step on your blue suede shoes.

Not good at all. Didn't make it easy to learn from the DVD.

This lass has knocked out a great instructional DVD in How To Jive. Her instructions are no-nonsense and precise and unlike a lot of dancing DVD's she hasn't got her head up her own backside. Even the bloke on the DVD's doesn't look completely camp, although that is probably due to the fact that this type of dancing dates back to the days of "The Teds", chains and flick knives.There's plenty of tralla-ing about for the lasses, so it ought to suit any ordinary folks.

Superb DVD, just what I was looking for. A proper Rock n Roll Jive DVD that enhances moves I already have with variations on them plus new ones. No ballroom la di da moves but real moves for your local dance hall or ball. Thoroughly recommend, the only down side is that thr picture quality isn't crystal clear but its not a problem as the content is superb.

Prima visuelle Erklärung (in Englisch) von 26 Anfänger(2)figuren ( ab Schulterfasser ..) bis Mittelstufe im "modern" Le Roc Jive. Die Historie des Jive vom Lindy Hopp bis Rock'n Roll und Boogie wird zudem in einigen Clipps gezeigt. Den klassischen Jive Doppelschritt werden sie aber nicht sehen. Der modern Jive ist eine Mischung von Jive, Rockn R.(ohne Kicks), Boogie, bis Salsa, mit vereinfachtem Schritt (meine subj. Einschätzung). Beginn: Herr rechts zurück...Eine hervorragende DVD mit Figurenmaterial, aber nicht im Tanzschul Jive-Schritt...Wenn beide Partner das tanzen ist''s ok,...
