She had been waking up around two or three every morning going into the living room, and just sitting there barking, for no apparent reason. I tried medicine from the vet, which seem to work, OK, but it’s expensive. The vet tech had recommended melatonin to me, so I thought I’d give it a try. I give her 2 mg about 9 PM, and so far, for the last couple of weeks, no more middle of the night barking! She takes them no problem, I just dropped them on the floor, like a treat, and she gobbles them up. I have another dog, about 20 pounds, border collie mix, I gave her one, one night because she wanted to treat as well. But it seemed to bother her stomach, so I won’t give them to her again, unless she really needs them. But I do give her a treat as well at the same time! It’s like having toddlers, lol. I believe the recommended dosage for my terrier, is 1.5 mg, but I haven’t wanted to hassle with trying to cut them in half. So I just give her two.Update June 16: still working!
