Best Value SDC I can find
The Sennheiser e614 is a great SDC, I have primarily used it for recording acoustic guitars, but it made a great job of recording percussion - it delivers a really natural sound.Over the years I have used many condenser microphones from Octava MK012, through AKG to the quintessential Neumann KM84. To me, the sound of this mic is more akin to the Neumann KM84 than any of other value mics I have used. It provides a really warm sound without the over emphasized highs I have heard from many other SDCs in this price range. The sound remains very detailed with no obvious signs of smearing. I was worried that the Supercardioid design would be a problem but I did not notice excessive proximity effect, rather it did a good job of minimizing room sound. This is one mic that will stay in my mic arsenal, its really good value and a does what so few mics do well, it accurately copies the sound being recorded.

Best value for this high standard compressor mic
It's a perfect condenser mic for cymbals or acoustic guitar and everything in between. Small compact body makes positioning it very easy and the sound quality is amazing. Priced well below its value, and well made in Germany.

High build quality and amazing recording fidelity.
I'm not a professional sound engineer. So I can't speak to this in comparison to $1000 microphones, as I don't have experience with those or the ability to discern that level of performance. But from everything I can tell, this microphone performs well above its price class. I put it about 15" in front of my acoustic guitar. Every nuance of my playing is captured, including a sense of air movement from the guitar's sound hole. Listening through headphones while playing is a totally immersive experience. This mic is truly amazing. I highly recommend it.

Decent all around Condenser Mic
This is a decent small form factor condenser microphone that works well on many sources.Inexpensive enough to risk getting stick smacked on snare drums. Works well on drum overheads, cymbal spot mics and acoustic instruments like guitar.

Not Suitable for Dialogue or Quiet Signals
This microphone is sometimes recommended online as a boom mic for indoor audio, because "shotgun" mics are engineered for outdoor use. But this microphone's sensitivity is much too low for dialogue. THis means you have to crank the gain, and get a lot of noise in your recording. This mic is really meant for drum kits or very loud live situations. Its sensitivity is quite low, so unless your sound source is extremely loud, this microphone is probably not for you. It's tough to find a good indoor audio boom microphone at this price range, so I'll probably try a shotgun mic, or save up to get a more expensive pencil mic that's specifically made for indoor audio booms.I have heard great things about this mic for its intended purpose though. Just be sure it's appropriate for what you are recording.

Good sound
This little mic has some pretty good sound and is pretty versatile. You can use it for instruments but it also works good for recording indoor dialogue.
