Q: What kind of wood is the handle made of & how thick is the spade's metal? the cold steel has a fragile handle but the blade is 2mm thick. comparable?

Handle seems to be white oak. The blade is the hardness and thickness of U.S. entrenching tool, with one exception. The point, front of the spade and forward edges of the spade are very sharp. Russian soldiers use it a a weapon and if thrown it will penetrate deeply in a piece of wood. I’ve tried it.

Q: Is the shovel more or less curved than the cold steel or mpl50?

The shovel is only slightly curved. Very slight. The forward edges are knife blade sharp. You throw it right, hard enough, it will penetrate and stick in a piece of wood. Makes an excellent backup weapon.
