RA Bock 3.2V Bright White LED Otoscope Set with Accessories - The Perfect Tool for Medical School! (Hard Case)

I've just started my health assessment class for nurse practitioner school and I was struggling to use the ophthalmoscope so I wanted to get a set of my own (if you're getting one you might as well get both). To my surprise a premium name brand set costs over $600 - there's no way I'm paying for that! After much searching I found this set while I was sitting in class and bought it. I couldn't be more pleased. The handle is nice and big so it feels like a name brand set, the light is bright, everything functions right, it's high quality, the case is very sturdy. It uses regular C batteries (not included) so it's up to you if you want it to be rechargeable but honestly it's better this way so you can always have a backup set of batteries, not like name brand ones that HAVE to be plugged in for an hour to get the charge back. There are two "heads" that have a luer lock type connection to fit onto the base, takes a few tries to get the hang of it but easy after that. It comes with 3 reusable otoscope tips with different sizes. It also comes with a tip you can use to inspect the nares or mouth.I see no reason why I wouldn't use this set once I finish NP school as the quality is on par with name brand otoscopes/opthalmascopes that I've used in my health assessment labs. I highly recommend this set for any medical/PA/NP student, residents, anyone doing travel visits or medical mission trips, moonlighting, or even in your day-to-day office visits.

This is the second Bock otoscope I have purchased. The first took some hard use and developed an issue with its on-off switch I could not fix (it still works, but somewhat awkwardly). I am an MD with the usual $450 Welch-Allyn otoscope that is in our main exam room; but honestly this "back-up" works comparably well and feels like a well-made piece of equipment. I take it on house calls and do not notice a drop-off in quality. I don't know that this will ever survive the 20 years of abuse my Welch-Allyn has willingly absorbed, but for the price, it is a fine deal.

4 stars because I am not sure that "love it" is how I truly feel. Bought this for medical school with the expectation that I would use a few times for practice but never for actual patient exams. I have used it a couple times and so far it works well. I can see clearly, the adjustment knobs are smooth, and overall seems to be a solid product. It does not come with any disposable cover for the ear. Just something to note.Would recommend if you are in a health professions school and are looking for something to practice with and do not feel like paying a huge price

Let's be real for a minute, med school is expensive as is, and when you're practicing clinical exams you don't need to spend $500 for a top of the line otoscope/ophthalmoscope. After a lot of searching I stumbled upon this kit, and I am so thankful I did! The set is sturdy, compact in a carrying case, and has additional speculums included. It requires C batteries, and the rechargeable ones I got worked well. The light is bright and correctly aligned for visualization. Read the included instructions for inserting the batteries and changing the heads, and you'll be a pro in no time. The friendly customer service and overall quality of this product gets a big thumbs up from me. I would highly recommend this to medical students, patients who may want to be on the look out for ear infections from home (with proper education), or anyone else who needs and affordable and quality otoscope kit. As a practicing physician of almost 30 years, i feel this set is a more than adequate as starter instruments for a first year medical student (in this case, my son). The delivery was prompt and the equipment arrived unharmed or damaged. The price cannot be beat as well! I would definitely look to RA Bick Diagnostics in the future for his or my needs in the future.

Feels good in the hand. Works perfectly! I love the perfect white light and on the opthalmascope the wheel for light and focus changes is smooth and perfect for my hand. Uses 2 C cell batteries The company rep for this product, Danielle was very responsive to my inquiry! I got an immediate response and am covered for help as long as I own the kit. I did not receive anything but great service for this review. Will use this company again!

I had to order this ophthalmoscope when I dropped and broke my Welch Allyn, while traveling. I chose this replacement brand because of decent price. It is sufficient for average use, and I will take it on the mission fields. I like the fact that the batteries are standard issue, and don’t require special expensive replacements. Anyone planning to specialize in ophthalmology, would want to invest in a W-A; but the majority of clinicians could use this brand, without issue.

EDIT: The rep contacted me immediately and promptly shipped a replacement piece for free. +1 point for that.The plastic caps were too loose fitting and came off easily which made otoscope barely usable. Everything else works appropriately for the price, as this is not a $700 kit.
