Why does my sole plate stain brown and pass on to clothing being ironed

Are you filling it too full? I have found this iron very easy to use and light weight.

Sorry, no information regarding wattage on box or in manual. Item itself is wrapped in plastic and I do not wish to open as it's being sold as new.
