Olive Wood Flat Top Mortar and Pestle | Garlic Smasher Molcajete

I literally just received this mortar and pestle and am beyond thrilled!! The grain of this wood is gorgeous and the way it was hand carved is exquisite!! So beautiful and well made, sturdy, solid, sits well, feels great to hold... the mortar is a great size and for grinding herbs and spices (narrow and deep enough so things won’t fly out) and the pestle is shaped perfectly. It came unpolished, just as I had hoped and is smooth inside and out. I just put some organic olive oil on it to preserve its grain and beauty. I am ecstatic about this product and believe it’s worth every penny!!

My existing mortar and pestle are ceramic, with a decidedly non-ergonomic pestle that really just did not fit my hand well. Since I've recently gotten into making my own garlic aoli with nothing more than salt, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil, it requires a LOT of mashing, so I went looking for something a little nicer.This set is perfect for my needs. The pestle nestles into my hand nicely and the mortar is large enough to make a decent amount of aoli.All it needed was a little mineral oil and beeswax to bring out the beautiful grain and we're good to go!
