I bought these to replace the trunk shocks in my 2009 Scion tC. I never noticed anything was wrong until my hatch started getting loose from people pulling on my trunk lid to open it. My old shocks only had enough lift in it to hold it open at whatever position I manually lifted to, and this new one shoots up like a cannon. It actually shoots up so forcefully that it hits the high limit of the hinge, so I hold onto it as it gets near the top just in case so I can prevent any damage that may be caused from the shock to the hinge. Installation was a breeze and I'll help guide you through it below:***HAVE SOMEONE HOLD YOUR TRUNK LID UP WHILE YOU DO THIS, THE LID MAY FALL ON YOU IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE OR SELF***The heads of your old struts have a small metal clip. Get a thin flathead and shove it under that clip to pry off it out. This is the same for both ends of the strut. Once it is out, you can simply pull on the strut and it should come out. The new ones will just pop right in without any tools. The length was perfect so I didn't have to struggle with that either.Overall, I am pretty happy with my purchase, it is a lot cheaper than the dealer at ~$20 for the pair. My only concern is the lift power that this strut initially has. I am sure it will settle down over the next couple months, but I would be weary of it in the meantime.
