Works. Don't put more than one coat unless u want it glossy, rather than matte. Doesn't turn black until fully dried. It may feel dry to the touch, however it takes a while.I thought it didn't work, I was pissed. The next morning (I had applied it in the evening), I was completely surprised that all of the rust was completely black. So just one coat and then wait, trust me...lol

love this product, have used in past and it works great to stop rust and can be easily painted over.

A couple of things surprised me. First, the listing describes this as black paint. When I opened the bottle and it was white I thought maybe I’d received the wrong color but proceeded anyway. When applied, if you get it on the surrounding non-rust surface, it looks like clear varnish with a little grubby black effect. The rusted area does turn black.The part that I think might become an issue is the lack of durability. When I reassembled the machine whose body I had used this on, the paint in areas that needed to fit together or slide past each other simply peeled off. I have no idea if the areas the paint peeled off of were sufficiently altered by it that they won’t re-rust, or if I’m going to be back to square one in a few months.Do your maintenance, people. The best way to deal with rust is to make sure it never happens in the first place!

This product works really well. I have used the spray version and the wipe on version. It works much better than other gel type formulas I have tried. It works quickly and especially if you scrape and sand before using it you will get a great result. Then used rustoleum spray paint

I have a used 40' foot Conex metal storage container that has lots of rust on it especially on the edges and needed a spray paint product which would help keep the rusted areas from getting any worse especially since this Conex cost me 5K. I am so glad I found this product which sprays over the rusted areas easily once I scraped off the excess rust with a paint scraper. It dries very quickly and has a flat black finish that can be easily painted over. I have used 6 cans of this product so far and have 3 more to go before all the rusted areas are treated with it. I then plan on painting the Conex with some Henry acrylic elastomeric bright white paint which should help keep the inside of the container cooler, since right now it is a dark blue color which gets incredibly hot inside. I am also installing 2 wind turbines on the roof to remove the hot air inside the Conex. I highly recommend this spray paint product to others who need to treat rusted areas on any metal surface before the damage gets any worse.

We have used this product on a number of different rusty items, it stops the rust and turns it into a hard, paintable surface. We recommend it.
