Excellent Mexican style sauce. I was previously a fan of Valentina extra hot, just because it was the spiciest readily available mex style sauce that could be had cheaply for dumping all over tasty food. Cholula extra hot tastes roughly the same, but is hotter than Valentina extra hot.For those wondering about the heat level, it’s not as hot as el yucateco, but significantly hotter than regular cholula. Also noticeably hotter than Valentina extra hot, as well as regular Tabasco.Not as hot as Tabasco habenero. To my taste, it’s approximately as hot, when used like most people use salsa, as eating a very hot jalapeño or a regular Serrano raw.It’s my new go to mex style sauce for burritos, tacos, and many other things when I really want to pour it on. For everything else, el yucateco or Malinda’s habenero still reigns supreme delivering both flavor and heat. Although Malinda’s ghost pepper sauce has quickly started replacing the regular habenero. Malinda’s Belizian Heat is probably my all time favorite for flavor and perfect heat level to use in high quantities without uncomfortable levels of pain, but it’s hard to find around here.If your on the fence about cholulas extra hot thinking it’s not hot enough to justify the order over regular, think again, they really did make a significant change to the heat level without changing the familiar cholula flavor.Likewise if your unsure if it’s gonna be too hot for you, don’t worry, it’s not a face burner, but if your the type that worries about a regular pepper sauce being too spicy, than you will likely find this sauce a welcome and enjoyable challenge to your tastebuds without the pain associated with the next level of sauces that come after this.

Great sauce. Hot, but with a nice, slow burn that makes the back of your neck sweat, and clears the sinuses without frying your taste buds. One of the hallmarks of Cholula sauces is that the underlying flavor is always more important than the heat. This sauce doesn't disappoint. It delivers great flavor first, and then a nice finishing kick of good heat. It's become my new "go to" sauce at work, and I find myself looking for things to put it on. Don't let the "extra hot" scare you off. It's extra hot for Cholula, but in the world of hot sauces, it's about an average heat.

The first time I purchased this sauce I was disappointed because maybe I received a bad batch or something because it didn’t taste much hotter than the original but decided to try again and so glad I did because can definitely taste the heat. Not ghost pepper heat or anything in that range but still flavorful and very spicy!

This stuff is hot BUT it also has a good taste. If you are looking for or would enjoy a slight step up in your hot sauce give this a try.

This is what it's all about folks. Been waiting my whole life for this moment. The taste of the original, with a bit more heat. They need to put this in the big bottles now.

This is not extra hot, hot sauce. Actually, I found this hot sauce to be very bland. I am a frequent user of hot sauce. I am familiar with hotness and hot sauce. This is not extra hot or even hot hot sauce. It’s light. It’s not even medium hot. It’s like a mild sauce. I repeat this is like a mild sauce. I don’t know why they called this extra hot. It’s not that & thats for sure.Update: Saturday, May 3, 2025. I hope the manufacturer sees this. The manufacturer of this product #NotHotSauce must have produced a bad batch. Because I obviously got a bad batch. This is not hot sauce. If it’s hot sauce, it’s hot sauce that’s gone bad. Or hot sauce that was not made properly. It has zero flavor and no heat. It’s flavor-LESS and has no spice or kick to it “at all.” What did I do with it: I put it in the TRASH.I am not a paid reviewer, I’m a totally surprised SHOCKED Amazon shopper because I thought this was going to be good.🚨 I put it in the trash. Five bottles read it again - five bottles‼️I say again, the manufacturer must have produced a bad batch.Note: I have seen similar comments to mine about this #NotHotSauce on the manufacturers own posting web site.
