Short grain Brown rice is the best tasting rice available, period. It has a mild crunch and chew(its not mushy like white rice, but not super crunchy like standard store bought long grain brown rice). I was happy to find this organic, small grower variety at such a great price with s&s!! The bag is also unique, it has a plastic "Velcro" seal to keep out moisture and critters, we dont use it however as we cook 2lbs at a time(its a bit more than we need for our family of 7,but my kids eat the little bit of leftovers as snacks the next day...warm, cold, butter, salt, sauce, none of it matters, they just love this rice-and its healthy, so I dont mind a bit). It does take 45min to cook, so if you have folks in your household that want this rice for a quick lunch or snack, make more to keep in the fridge(we always have some of this rice in the fridge). This is also great rice if anyone in your household(including the dog)has an upset stomach. It actually works better than white or standard brown rice to clear up stomach upset. So far, I have 3 emptied and cleaned bags in my pantry, I will be using them to store extra flour , beans, and other pantry staples that dont come in such nice bags(they truly are nice, heavy weight with a great closure). We do still keep white rice in our house for certain applications(rice pudding and chicken rice soup(with white and wild rice) come to mind), but if I had to go down to one main rice, this would be it.

This is a good brand of rice. Short grain brown rice is perfect for making mushroom burgers and will bind together when freshly made. For some reason my local supermarket stopped carrying it.

I am on a low carb low salt diet and this brown rice is wonderful. The ease of cooking and the taste is better than white rice by far.

This Lundberg short grain brown rice is a lovely discovery for me. I have enjoyed many of the other wide and varied rice offerings from Lundberg over the years, but had not yet tried this particular rice. While searching for a good "Sushi-style" rice, I happened upon this offering from Lundberg. This is a non-GMO AND organic version of the familiar, short grain rice used in various Japanese dishes. It is a rice with a nicely subtle nutty flavor, and cooks-up into a lovely and slightly sticky version of the rice most commonly appreciated in Sushi. The added bonus of finding this rice in its extremely healthy brown rice version is a big plus. I have a rice maker that I use when preparing rice, and I made this rice by using 1 cup of water to each 1 cup of rice. I used the GABA setting on my rice maker which automatically soaks the rice, sprouts it, then cooks it - with all of the added nutrition provided by the enzymes possessed by sprouted rice. Whether cooked in a rice maker, or on the stove, this is an excellent quality rice, tasty and flavorful, well worth your consideration. It is also nice to enjoy the slightly lower price experienced by buying a larger quantity of the rice. I highly recommend this rice to all rice lovers, you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful rice in every way. Only four stars because the “long grain” description is not accurate. Otherwise, great product!

Rice is one of those things you don't want to buy off the discount rack. The cheap stuff never cooks consistently, and will often be old and impossible to cook to a tasty consistency (not to mention the stray husks). This rice, on the other hand, comes out exactly the same every time - absolutely perfect. It's so flavorful - nutty, sweet, almost toasty. And the texture... it's like no other. Keeps it's shape perfectly, comes out tender and chewy, slightly sticky but also maintains the integrity of each grain. I could eat this rice plain all day. It almost seems like a shame to mix it with anything. I don't use any butter or oil when cooking (the package suggests you do), but I do like to add a pinch of salt to the water. I also like to bring the water to a boil before adding the rice (the package say to add rice and then bring to a boil). I think this is the best way to avoid sticking. The rest I do exactly as recommended: Reduce to simmer for 45 minutes, then remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes before fluffing. Also note that this rice has a PERFECT texture cold, too. Wonderful for sushi (yes, it's sticky enough) or rice salad! Such a versatile, delicious, high-quality rice. At the grocery store by me, this is $2.30 a per pound. So to have it delivered to my door for even less... just can't go wrong.
