Fantastic value. Great customer service via email. Easy to fit and use. What more could you want?
This dash cam mirror has replaced a very old and no longer functional traditional dash cam which sticks to my car windscreen. It is far better because of the design and functionality. Also it doesn't fall off like the old did in the hot summer of freezing winter!I've been using it for almost a month now. In summary, I found it easy to fit, both the front and rear cameras in my Honda Civic mk 8 (2007). The front camera goes in very easily around the existing mirror and the cable can be hidden without difficulty. It's great having a plastic tool to push it under the trim. The rear camera took more effort, however, the cable still fitted well under the trim and I had plenty of spare cable left. I have been able to screw the rear camera into the inside back window of my boot and it works well. Of course with any dew, frost or condensation the camera inside can be affected, however, it's better than putting it outside (in my opinion).I did need to solder the red cable to my reverse cable after stripping off the wire's insulation coming from the rear light bulb. It works perfectly. I even found out from the AA Recovery service in the UK that older cars reverse lights are easier to work. They have a constant voltage of about 12 volts. But with newer cars they may send a 'pulse' down the reverse light cable so it's work checking the current is about 12 volts before attempting it using a volt metre. After driving for a few weeks I did notice the dash cam would turn on during driving and appear to not record (the red recording light was white only). Often it would later start recording again but it didn't give me much confidence at first. I later saw a number of errors such as "memory card full", "sdhc error", "format card" etc. I'm using a SanDisk 32GB 100mbps which has been formatted as the default settings on my Windows 10 laptop. This problem did continue to occur which was frustrating. However, after emailing the company, Chortau, I heard from Amanda who sent me a zip file to fix the problem. Instructions were:1) Copy the extracted zip file contents to the SD card (it's a .bin file)2) Insert this into the dash cam whilst off3) Turn on4) Ensure external power is connected too and turned on5) The dash cam updated its firmware (original version dated August 2018) - progress shown and took only a minute to complete6) The dash cam powers off7) Unplug the dash cam8) Remove and format the SD card9) Reinsert the SD card to the dash cam10) GOOD NEWS, the new October 2018 version of the firmware fixed the problem! No more errors and continuous recording as it should do. Thanks Amanda! Because of this after sales customer service I believe the product is worth 5 stars! Not many companies offer this so it definitely makes it stand out from the rest.********** December 2018 Update **********I have since noticed that the original problem reoccurred (memory card errors, no looping or recordings, etc). I swapped my Micro SD San Disk 100mbps 32GB with another of the same card I had used in an Asus tablet. Guess what? The same make, size and speed and this memory card worked perfectly with no problem. Been like it for several weeks now! So I can only conclude it was the memory card all along! Maybe it would be fine on the old firmware? Who knows!PS The original memory card that caused problems works fine in my tablet!

Great value for money. Easy to install
Was looking for an inexpensive dash cam and really glad I chose this one. The mirror at first sight looks a bit on the large size, but very quickly get used to it. The big advantage is that it make installation so much easier using a couple of the heavy duty rubber bands supplied with the camera and it is fixed to the existing rear view mirror. Didn't take many minutes to run the power supply cable from the decent adaptor power supply plugged into the cigar light, easy to do if you route it behind the sunvisor and then using the brilliant little blue device supplied to tuck it under the door trim rubber and under the front passenger carpet to the centre dash, Similarly with the rear camera, just run the cable along using the existing rubber door trims to conceal it for most of the way until you get close to the final location. Finding the best position for the rear camera took a bit of experimenting but it helps if you have someone handy to move the camera whilst you watch the image display in the mirror fitting. The menus on the camera are larger and clearer than the small dash cam on my neighbours car, and are easy to set up and follow, We have chosen the option to have “picture in picture” view showing mostly the front camera with a smaller rear cam image in top right quarter, but if & when you download the SD card to view the video on the PC it is saved in two separate folders, one for each camera. Picture quality is really good especially on the front camera. Don't forget to remove the small scratch protector discs of plastic from the lenses of both cameras as I did to start with, improves the quality so much !!Overall really pleased with this dash cam. Very good value for money, especially bearing in mind the rear camera supplied too, and build quality is good. Definitely recommended

Very good with a few small flaws
I only wanted a reverse camera, and this seemed to be the simplest way of putting one in my Citroen Berlingo. With a lot of this sort of product I find that you can usually see 53 identical versions all marketed under slightly different names, showing that it's simply a badged up off the shelf Chinese knock off of something. Maybe this still is, certainly it's for sale by a LOT of sellers, but I was pleasantly surprised to see everything from the Box, to the literature and even the logo you see when turning the unit on were the same.Pros:1) Instructions were very good, no terrible translations or gibberish.2) Unit seems of good quality, physically3) It fits very well over my existing mirror, and is much larger that it too4) Touch screen works perfectly, although finger marks trigger my OCD!5) Wire lengths were enormous6) It's a doddle to use, once you have learned what the few icons meanCons:1) Once the unit is turned on and has 12v power, it will not turn itself off unless you do it manually or cut the power. As my unit is plugged into a permanently on 12v socket, it is always on, which drains the battery, unless I turn if off2) If I turn it off, then when I use the parking monitor which is supposed to sense movement when the car is not in use and then briefly turn on, record a minute of video and turn it off again what essentially happens is that I turn it off, merely shutting the door triggers the movement sensor, which turns it on, and then *because it's connected to 12v permanently* it doesn't ever turn itself off! As such, I have to disable this feature, which is a shame, or it would drain my battery quickly like leaving lights on does3) Even if I turn it off and don't use the parking monitor, the 12v power adapter has a bright red light that is always on. This reduced my car battery from 12.1v to 11.8v overnight when I tested it. I wouldn't want to leave the car for more than a couple of days without having to unplug it, which is a pain as the socket is in a roof glove box in the back of the car4) The front camera rotates and swivels to help you center the recording, but it won't quite swivel far enough to the right to point centrally5) As the cables plug in at the top, and by mirror is already quite high on the windscreen, it's pretty hard to get a position where normal rear mirror is a good angle, without affecting the front camera as they touch the roof. As it is, to get a full rear view, the front camera is pointing slightly left of center and capturing a lot of the "windscreen sun dots" that are at the top of many windscreens. This is as much to do with my car as the unit, so not criticism but worth bearing in mind - maybe a future model could recess the cable connections a littleOverall, I was more pleased than I thought I would be for the price. I'm yet to use the reversing auto camera as I haven't ran that cable yet, but I look forward to doing to as that would mean I never have to touch the screen and get finger prints on it, but I'm happily using it manually until I do that.I'd give it 5 stars if the 12v adapter didn't have a bright light, and if the parking monitor would still turn the unit off even if it's connected to power - i.e. if *I* turn it on, leave it on, if it's turned itself on, it should turn itself off too
