Can this be used in a softtub?

Yes. This is the gentlest chlorine I have used. Very gentle on the skin and hot tub parts. I like it because I use when I’m ready to go in. Just a table spoon and good to go. Doesn’t last long because it doesn’t have a stabilizer. But that’s ok. Put a little in an hour before you get in and good to go!

Amount needed per gallon

I have a 330 gallon hot tub. I add 2 tablespoons after each use. This keeps the water nice & clean.

Do I always need to have the cover open for 15-30 minutes when I add this like I would an oixidizer?

If you are adding chorine you should leave the cover open for 10-15 minutes. If I am using Aqua Finesse spa liquid by itself once a week I do not leave the cover open for it, For any other chemicals I leave the cover open for 10-15 minutes.

What is the difference better this product compared to the freshwater chlorine granules by watkins

Nothing, as far as I know. That's why I buy the cheaper Clorox chlorinating granules. I buy the Spa Essentials Shock Extra though.
