21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K Display: core 8th-Generation Intel Core Processor (Renewed) MRT32LL/A

Well packed, looked good to the eye and worked right away - even if it was very slow. Instructions to help with the setting up would have been an advantage. The five minute wait for it to be ready to use, even when going it was awefully slow. Not being technically minded I took it to my local repair shop and asked for advice in setting up some things I was having difficulty with. The report came back that the refurbishment was not to a high standard, the 1TB drive was so damaged it would need repairing, very much as if all that had been done was wipe the discs and re program - without giving the machine a trial run first as the condition would have been apparant. I gave permission for the repairs to go ahead. It now is working as it should have, speedy and smooth. Buyer beware, if a machne is opened it voids the warranty. If a damaged machine is repaired by anyone but the seller it voids the warranty. Even if this is inconvienient its better to give in and return to sender and hope for a speedy resolution to the problem What started out as a kindeness of mine by not returning the machne right away has landed me with the repair bill, the seller is refuses quoting the warranty.

I've been using an identical Mac for nearly 4 years, and like it a lot. When I noticed that I could get an otherwise identical refurbished Mac for about 1/3 the cost, I thought that it would be worth the cost even if it was terrible. As it happens it works as if it was brand new. There are a few issues, which I will enumerate below, but don't let that get you down: this product is worth every penny that you pay --- which happens to be much less than what a new unit would cost. (*) the mouse and keyboard are not Apple devices. In particular, the keyboard is intended for Windows. It works for a Mac, but there are things such as the audio volume which work differently. (*) the installed OS is out of date. It took several days to bring it up to speed. This is not a problem, but it's just a reminder that you're going to have to do some work to breath life into this. (*) In addition to the OS, there is other software that you're going to have to install. As it happens, I do software development, so Xcode and a variety of Python things had to be installed ... and of course the installers for that software had to be installed, too. Okay, after griping a little bit, here's the important question: "Would I buy the same refurbished iMac again, for the same price?" Absolutely I would, and I probably will. And if you're new to Macs and want a perfectly good first iMac desktop *and* are willing to do a little work to bring it up to current OS and other software installs, you would be hard pressed to do better than this.
