Every new plant 🌱 parent needs this!!!
***For those who have had trouble with their monitor’s not turning blue***... I suggest the following steps :1) Make sure that you have not watered your plant recently ( meaning start this process when it should be time to water your plant again ).2) Before using the Sustee monitor, run water over the bottom portion of the device ( the portion that detects moisture ) in order to activate the process first. By doing this it insures that the device is registering water. The reader should be blue after doing this.3) Water your plant completely.4) After your plant has been watered appropriately, insert the Sustee aqua monitor into the plant vertically ( you should be inserting the monitor after it has been placed in water and is already reading blue in the indicator slot ).These steps help to insure that the device will read the water level within the planter properly as the soil dries. Because if this is not inserted the day that the plant has been watered, the monitor will not give you the proper reading.Now... I shall officially begin my review!!!If you are an over anxious plant 🌱 parent that can’t seem to water your plants in a balanced manner... this tool is excellent!!! It keeps you from over watering your plants by turning blue when the plant has been sufficiently watered.... and turns white to let you know that the plant needs a drink, so that you do not underwater your plants either. If I had known when I first started purchasing plants that I could accurately monitor their moisture levels... I could have decreased some of the casualties that took place in the first place. After figuring out how to make the monitor work, I discovered that I had been needing these and had no idea how badly. As I said before, if I had known about these in the beginning of my plant journey... I wouldn’t have sent my Chinese Money plant to an early grave and almost drowned my Burgundy Ficus Elastica ( which lost/dropped 75% of it’s leaves due to over watering habits ). After purchasing this item and using it properly, the Burgundy Ficus begin to grow leaves rapidly. Initially I thought the Sustee in the large size was broken/ not working properly because it didn’t turn white in my size 12 planter for 5 weeks. ( see the steps listed above, as this helped me to get my Sustee to read initially for the first time ). This helped me to discover that my soil was compacted which held too much water with too little aeration ( not enough space for the left over water to run through the soil and spill out of the bottom of the planter ). After adding perlite and mixing this into the Burgundy Ficus Elastica’s large planter, the health of the tree took off. And the Sustee monitor registered that the water levels in the soil had changed as well. So, my deduction is that the only way this item is not working properly will be due to error caused by the plant parent. If you have soil problems... how quickly or how slowly the monitor registers the water depletion and turns white is based on having the proper water absorption levels in the soil to begin with. I read a review where someone complained about having to leave the apparatus inside of the planter to continually monitor the water levels for that specific plant . The fact of the matter is , if you are serious about making sure each of your plants are watered properly , the objective is to purchase the tools to help you succeed. So purchasing a monitor for each individual plant ( if you have problems with keeping a healthy watering schedule ) is absolutely worth every penny. Being cheap does not guarantee success, and growing and nurturing plants is absolutely not an inexpensive lifestyle/hobby. And because I have gotten fantastic results after purchasing Sustee, these will be a permanent staple in my plant maintenance routine.

Saves my plants! Excellent for non-draining pots.
I got some plants as gifts that do not have drain holes, I was over and under watering them constantly. These are perfect for letting me know when it's time to water. I use them for my other plants too, it makes taking care of the plants so much easier. I've also replaced the wicks in these. They last about six months and are easy to replace. From my point of view it's good how it lets you know it needs replacing, it stays white after watering instead of changing to blue. So you have given your plant a little more water than it needs... better than letting your plant dry up! To replace the wick take the device apart completely, you may need to use a toothpick or something to get all of the old wick out. Then just insert the new wick and reassemble. Love this product. I have not received anything for this review.

Great! They do what they say.
I knocked off one star for "value" for the money. They are a bit overpriced for what they do.

My plants are so happy!
This is the best thing ever for my plants. I love having plants in my home and office, but I'm really bad at taking care of them and have killed many over the past few years. I'm pretty sure it was because I have no clue exactly when to water them. I bought a pair of these a few months ago and they work great - I've been successfully caring for some new plants since I got them, and the plants seem to be thriving. Now that I know how well these work, I bought a couple more for the rest of my plants.

Saves plants lives, not relying on guesswork, great product.
Plants seem to be doing fine with this product. Taking the guess work out of the care. I’m gone all summer and leave my plants in my sisters care, she has killed at least two with under or over watering, these tubes indicate proper watering, saving my plants. I have orchids and gardenias both difficult to raise, this saves plants.

Made watering my plants, easier! Love them!
I love having these! So far, shows as directed (blue when moist) and white when dried. When the stick turned white, I checked the soil myself and the stick was correct, the plant needed watering. Going to buy more.

Perfect
These work perfectly. Make sure to follow the directions when placing them in the pot. They will not change immediately. Give it several minutes before adding more water.

I like ceramic pots and no drain trays - ideal - no more guesswork - even my kids can do it when I'm travelling
