Great Knives - nuf said
I finally upgraded form my Chicago Cutlery. Stamped bladed and wooden handles. They were great knives but soft blades that couldn't hold an edge and needed regular steeling, handles needed maintenance as well. These Mercer have been an amazing upgrade. I couldn't get my head around the expense of German knives, too much $ for what you get. The Mercer are priced great. Quality is on par with the other German brands, at a fraction of the price. Steel is super hard and keeps an edge. Put the steel to it once a week and the knives still slice paper after 6 months hard use. They are a bit lighter and thinner than the other German brands, which I like. You don't need that weight if you have a hard solid blade. I slice and cut with these, I don't chop. This set comes with a great mix of Knives. The styling is also spot on, they look good and are super easy to clean. Handles are bomb proof and comfortable. Bolster is just right to protect the finger without making it hard to sharpen fully. One for every use and I use them all. If you are looking for a solid upgrade that won't break the bank, this is a great set.

This bag is my new Sous Chef - Love It!
SO... I am not sure where some of the other reviews are coming from. But this is my experience, and know that I am a dude who loves bags, and uses many and does research before I purchase things. This bag is a game changer for me, I work as an Executive Chef, which means I cook my ass off, but also have to be able to go to meetings, tastings, and work on menus, orders, social media, etc. I have to keep a lot of stuff on hand, and most of it can not live in my truck This bag allows for ALL of that.THE KNIFE CASE: Slides out, is decent quality, especially being it will mostly live inside the protection of the backpack. Also comes with a strap if you want to use just the knife case alone. I use some big knives (4), Small knives (4), Special Knives (2) and a bunch of small tools and there is still plenty of room for more in the case.THE BAG: Plenty of pockets for all your work and personal needs, I carry normally on hand my phone (Note 3 which is huge), Macbook with charger, recipe book, notebook, water bottle, phone charger, usb drives, 5 sharpies, 4 pens, calculator, order clipboard, pocket knife, and other office needs. and still there is plenty of room.OUTER POCKET/SLING: Attaches with clips, similar to Skateboard and Snowboard bags, its a pocket, but does not fully close, it attaches at the top with 2 clips. Holds for me, 2 Aprons, chef coat, jeans, shirt, boxers, socks. If needed, I have used the 2 water bottle slings (1 on each side) to slide my Clogs, or Street shoes, however, in the laptop section, if you slide shoes to the bottom, they will fit there as well.TOP HANDLE: It works as needed, I purchased one of those gel velcro ergonomic handles to attach to this. ($4). But it works as needed. The other straps for the sling work well too, I would adjust carefully because they are plastic, DO NOT YANK on them. and you will be fine. Zippers are smooth and strong, again, i would not pull and yank on them, but if you use this and take care of it, it will last.BOTTOM & BACK: Bottom of the bag is rubber/plastic lined to keep water out, I keep my bag away from danger as it has a ton of expensive stuff in it, plus the knife case comes out, so if needed you can just keep that close. BUT it is a nice feature. The back is padded, breathable mesh, with nice padded, embroidered and strong. Chest clip is nice to have, but I am a big dude, I do not use it.OVERALL: I love it! it is well worth the price, especially considering that the knife case, and a decent quality backpack would amount to how much this bag costs. At least this one is made by Mercer, they know knives, chefs, and it just makes sense. I like it way better than the Wusthof backpack, and that costs nearly $30+ more than this bag. It is nice quality for the price, looks great, very comfortable, utilitarian, and ergonomic in the right places. If you need an all around bag for work in & out of the kitchen, commuting, etc. BUY IT NOW!Product update: over a year later. 0 issues with this bag. Barely any wear and tear on it. No damage. Love it more and more as it breaks in.

Top notch company and product
I purchased this knife set at the end of August last year. It was my first time purchasing a quality set and it didn't disappoint. They are comfortable, sharp and very sturdy. I use the chef's knife frequently and recently noticed some weird staining on one side of the blade, no amount of cleaning or polishing was able to remove it. I contacted Mercer, was told to email sales with a picture and description and received a response within an hour. They asked for a few more pictures and my address, about 30 minutes after I emailed those I was told I would be receiving a replacement while they look into possible cause of the staining. I am thrilled at the quality of the product and would definitely recommend them to a friend, but also wanted to acknowledge the top notch customer service.

Great bag!
Let me start by saying, MERCER is a great brand for culinary goods. My other knife bag is also made by MERCER, but I needed something smaller, and I found it here. This plating tool roll is perfect for the tools and spoons that I use the most. I was impressed by how much it holds. It looks to be double/tripple stitched on the seams and trim, making it incredibly durable. I like being able to downsize from my regular sized roll- I now have less to carry around with me. These usually cost about $70 (with a few spoons) but I was happy to find one without spoons for $20. Obviously, this bag isn't made to carry knives, I find it easy to fold one in anyway.

Absouletly Amazing Knife Set!
I spent a very long time looking for knife set. The knives in the store never seemed sharp enough. All the "specialty" brands seem way too expensive. This particular brand was recommended by a chef I follow and I had to try. This is by far the best quality knives that I have ever owned and you certainly can't go wrong for the price! My only warning is to be careful! If you aren't use to truly sharp knives you will lose some skin or a nail!

Not bad at all
I am a professional chef and I used a lot of rolls and knives cases. It is alright for beginners, a lot of room to keep your knives and gadgets however you will need knife guards to protect the blade of your knives so the knives does not hold when you move the case.I would recommend that item to some one that need to keep a lot of knives for the everyday chef operation but if you are looking for something more permanent this is not what you are looking for. After three weeks of use the shoulder strap broke, it would be nice to get a replacement from the company but no chance to reach them.If I would need to buy a knives case again I would buy a different one that could be more resistance and hold the knife better.

Knife carrier missing
Great back pack however it was delivered with no knife case within it which means I’ve basically paid over £100 for a rucksack I’m not very happy at all

It is quite a good backpack for the most part
It is quite a good backpack for the most part. There's plently of space to fit all that one could desire in it. The major downside is that the threads on the left strap have completely unraveled and the strap has ultimately come off. So, now I have a broken bag and a hole in my wallet! Only had the bag for 2 months so it's pretty lame......
