This magnifier was exactly what I was looking for. The quality is great and it's light to hold. The glass is not opaque at all and the size of the reading area is perfect. I would totally buy it again if needed since I think that the price is fair. The product arrived one day earlier so the shipping service was excellent. The only thing that I would improve is the metal legs for standing-out. I find it hard to get the legs off and I think that a person with loss in fine motor or manual dexterity could have problems with this. Very good product.

In terms of magnification, this thing has got some power. It is huge, so naturally the magnification is huge also, and very clear. It's got a good weight to it and feels sturdy and well-made, while the handle has a comfortable grip.Now here's the part of the review I actually WANTED to write: this thing is amazing for setting fire to stuff using focused sunlight. If you're something of a pyromaniac like myself, this magnifying glass is one of the best for setting fire to piles of leaves, paper, etc.. You could cook a steak with this beast. Obviously, be careful if you're using it for that. I strongly discourage playing with fire (although if you are going to, this is the way to do it).

Well enough made in design terms but I had issues with the magnifier lens being scratched (more than could be polished out with spectacle spray and soft cloth). The vendor was very good about sending a replacement (from Germany); this was in better condition but still scratched. A protective film applied during manufacture, removed by the owner, would do the trick in future but none was used; meanwhile it appears Carson have had quality control issues.

I bought this magnifier as an tool to use in my studies of plants. Good solid product and does what I need it too. Gives enough magnification that I can bring items like seeds and flower parts closer to my aging eyes and enlarge them enough to see basic detail. The tiny 10x magnifier is a nice touch too. It may not have the wide field and quality of a dedicated loupe, but in the field is does fine in a pinch to get a quick look at tiny seeds or lichen formations.The zipper protective case was a nice unexpected surprise too. Good if you just want to toss the magnifier in a back pack and not worry about scratching the lens.I am very satisfied.

Habe diese Lupe für optische Experimente gekauft, für die ich eine große Linse mit langer Brennweite benötigte. Dafür ist sie gut geeignet, habe aber auch die Eigenschaft als Lupe getestet. Die Linse wird ohne Kratzer aber mit leichten im reflektierendem Licht sichtbaren Schlieren geliefert, die die Funktion als Lupe nicht beeinträchtigen. Durch die geringe Vergrößerung gibt es keine sichtbaren Verzerrungen (wohl aber riesige bei der kleinen Zusatzlinse im Griff).Loben muss man das geringe Gewicht, den handlichen Griff und die mitgelieferte praktische Hülle. Die Lupe kann Sehfehler nicht ausgleichen und daher eine Lesebrille nicht ersetzen. Zusammen mit einer solchen Brille ermöglicht sie die Übersicht über eine große Fläche. Die Vergrößerung ist aber nur, wie angegeben 2-fach. Wer ernsthafte Sehprobleme hat, ist mit einer größeren Vergrößerung und mit einer beleuchteten Lupe besser bedient.
