Totally worth it for us! Please read pro and cons.
I ordered this and the original name brand as well, never having tried either before this. Gave 1 type to each of my kids (10 and 12 yo).I was impressed with how much simpler this one was to string! My kids had a hard time seeing inside the other version, and thus a hard time properly stringing it.Pros:1. Simple, easy to restring. You can remove the cover and see both wheels completely, and can see exactly where the string should be.2. Because this has a cover, the string does not fall out while in use, which I found DID happen with the name brand.3. The name brand one requires holding a button down the entire time you want to use it. This one has a lovely function where you push the button once to start it, and push it again to stop. Makes it much easier for a child to use!!!A couple of caveats though!1. You absolutely need to purchase a string set to go with this. It comes with 1 string, which is terribly low quality and will fall apart very, very quickly!2. The internal wheels on this are made using the rubbery wheels that are used on toy cars. Because they aren't specially made for the purpose of this toy, they are harder on the string than they should be. So even with good quality strings, they will wear (fray) faster than the name brand item. Which means buying replacement strings more often.3. This makes a small, continuous clicking sound while on. Doesn't bother us, but may be bothersome to some people.

Waste of time and money
String tangled after 10 seconds of use, not exaggerating. String also frayed after first use. Not worth the hassle, if your kid really wants one get the pricier model.

Fun, but string is cheaply made.
The kids/teens thought it was fun, but the string is starting to fray in under 15 minutes of use. I wish I had an extra string.

Silly Simple Fun!!!
It seems today there aren’t enough toys that spark the imagination of children. The KU String Rope Launcher is a fantastic toy for imaginative play. My children have played with this rope thrower for just one week. In that time, they’ve trained our dog to run through the big swirling rope hoop. They’ve used it as a gun to knock down red solo cups. They’ve even used the black-light flashlight just to mess around and see what glows. The setup is very simple. Just lay the rope into the slot between the two miniature car tires, put the cover back on, then push the button. The black light “charges” the glowing rope which becomes brighter and brighter over time as the toy is used. Rope tangles are fairly easy to get out. Just pop off the cover, untangle, then reinstall. The only downside is that there’s a subtle electrical “burning” smell when it’s used. The smell reminded me of what slot-cars and other miniature motorized toys smell like. The smell went away very quickly, after only about 10 minutes of play.

Not Great
I was a little disappointed with the rope thrower. I have had several of these style of toys in the past and this one just doesn't cut the bill. It has a very weak motor and jams extremely easy. The whole purpose of these is to fling the string around and aim it a stuff and see how it reacts. As soon as you move to quick or hit something with this one, it coils up and jams. It is easy to clear a jam but you have to do it every few seconds. If you hold it still, it is ok, but I cant recommend this to anyone who doesn't want a static rope thrower.
