Doesn't throw off much heat, but it's a great ambiance addition. The tank holder does not stick out, but is useful as a table and easy on the eye. I did order an extra 10lbs of fire rock because the amount sent was not enough to cover the fire tube. Otherwise, very pleased. Many a cozy night on the patio now. We initially got it to see if we wanted a bigger, more expensive and permanent fire pit.
