This trap is inhumane and causes significant harm to every bird it catches. The spring mechanism crushes their fragile bodies, resulting in severe injuries or death. It has injured two doves, fatally smashed another’s neck, and harmed both baby and adult chickens. Even when the metal bars don’t immediately break bones or wings, animals injure themselves attempting to escape. The netting is dangerously wide, allowing body parts to become trapped, leading to fatal entanglement. Additionally, if a stray cat is caught, it can easily bite you repeatedly while you pry open the trap to release it. This product is poorly designed, cruel, and should not be marketed as humane. It requires urgent redesign or removal from the market.

So, this is a bit of a mixed review. I think part of the problem some people are having is that they are maybe having trouble with larger birds. This trap works effectively at catching pigeons and myself, and my neighbor caught her runaway silkie chicken. For those unfamiliar with them, silkies are one of the smallest chicken breeds out there. They are much smaller than your typical chickens, but still larger than pigeons, ets. The trap held the silkie, but it did look like the silkie was pretty crammed in there. Like, maybe if the trap was not attended the silkie might have been able to get out of the trap eventually. My opinion is that if you are trying to catch smaller birds, this trap will work for you just fine. If you are trying to catch larger chickens or pheasants this is probably not the trap for you.

This trap does work, but I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND putting some padding on the wire frame where it slams down in order to prevent injuries to small animals and birds. I added foam window insulation tubes to mine and it has made it 100 times SAFER for things it traps. The metal bars can otherwise slam down very hard on small animals and WILL KILL THEM if they are hit at the right (wrong) angle.

This comes as a pack of two bird trap nets. They are super easy to setup. The net material seems strong and durable. They get the job done!
