Greenworks 24V 12" Cordless String Trimmer / Edger, 2.0Ah Battery and Charger Included

I live on a farm so everything that isn't crop is mowed and we have a huge lawn! I love this lightweight, affordable, work horse! I bought an extra battery (4.0Ah) which is my "go to" battery. I start out with it and when it loses power I use the 2.0Ah that comes with the string trimmer. I've discovered that if I start with the 4.0Ah that I can put it in the charger and use my 2.0Ah. When it is depleted my 4.0Ah is ready to go again! I get approximately 2 1/2 hours of string time! Granted, I don't often need that much trimming time, but there have been days when I do. The length of time varies according to how heavy or tough the grass/weeds are. I previously had an older model GreenWorks trimmer and didn't know that I shouldn't leave it in our unattached, unheated garage during our Iowa winter. The next spring the battery wouldn't take a charge. I looked online for a replacement battery and they no longer had that model's battery available. I had loved it so much I decided to to with another newer model. I haven't been through a winter yet, but I can assure you I won't leave the battery outside again!

The trimmer works great! Light weight compared to gas trimer also much easier to start just press the trigger. It does have a safety that has to be depressed and it is in somewhat of bad location. Also you have to keep pressing the safety to keep it running. The battery has I think a short life span and needs to be recharge often depending on the size of area one is working. The good news is the battery charge fast! This is a self-feed stringer, no bumping to increase string. Just stop and start the unit to increase string. This is a great trimer say for the home owner but not for commercial. I have tried this unit on some tough weed and it seems to handle the job but I would use a gas trimmer job for such weeds.

I just wanted to say first and foremost this weed wacker DOES auto feed line. There's a lot of conflicting information on this and a lot of claims that it does not. It works fine. If you're running short on line let off the button and start again. It might take a few tries because it only feeds a very small amount of line at a time but it DOES work. This is probably to prevent wasting line since, because it's battery operated, you don't need to leave it running the whole time and you'll be stopping and starting as you walk between patches of grass. I own and use both a gas and plug-in weed wacker. The gas was overkill; I don't need that much power and it's so loud I feel like I should be using hearing protection. Also the weight of it would wear on me because I have a steep hill to do. The plug-in one was nice and lightweight, easy to use, but the cord was always an issue. Having to untangle it and plug in several different times to hit both the front and back of the house was getting exhausting. So I ended up going the battery route and I'm glad I did. It has the maneuverability of the gas and the quietness and light weight of the plug-in. I was initially concerned that it might lack power but so far it's tackled everything I've thrown at it with ease. Honestly I wouldn't mind having an energy saver feature that used less power for a longer battery life. And that's the only issue you might run in to is running out of juice. If you have a big yard you might consider a second battery. Though on the upside the battery charges very quickly so you could even trim first, mow and charge, then finish trimming. But I have a pretty average size yard and I have yet to run out of battery life.

I have downsized my home and my 20 year old Toro finally died. This trimmer is perfect for my small yard. Very impressed with the power! The trimmer line that comes with it is honestly the best I've ever used. Very durable. The edger function works great for my needs. This is my first battery yard tool. I was skeptical as I was transitioning from a very powerful gas trimmer that was used heavily for a 5 acre yard to this greenworks unit. Battery life is good for my needs. I use it 3 times for my trimming needs before it needs charged. Basically 3 weeks. Now all that said if I was at my old home, I'm not sure if it would be big enough. For a home in a plan with a medium size lot it is perfect! One thing to be aware of is you have to manually extend the cord once it wears down. I honestly dont mind this as it keeps it from wasting the line. This is not a bump feed system. Its very easy to add more line, you just have to do it manually.

To begin with, I am a 62 year old woman with health issues. I have trouble walking because of a bad back, knees and ankles. I am in constant pain, but yard still has to be done. With rising costs, we could not afford to hire someone this last month and the grass was getting tall. I didn't want anything that required gas. I looked online and found this Weed eater in the warehouse deals and took a chance. It works great. I cut the front yard with it in morning until the battery goes dead (or I can't stand up anymore). Then I do the same in the evening in the back yard. It takes longer, but it is working and it is something we could afford. So glad I got it. Cons: Could have had clearer instructions. Battery life doesn't last for a long time. But that doesn't bother me, most of the time it lasts longer than I do. Pros: It is lightweight. Easy to assemble. Gets the job done.

The tool itself is mediocre. I have invested a good deal of money in Greenworks tools. My wife purchased this weed trimer years ago, along with a couple batteries. I figured I would utilize the batteries with other tools and began collecting several Greenworks tools and batteries. Other companies’ tools are definitely just as good or better quality and usually for less money than Greenworks items. A few months ago, I was telling my brother how I regret purchasing all my Greenworks tools because they simply are not that good and the batteries are no where near the AH that they advertise. But oh well, least they work or so I thought… Then one of the worst customer service situations I have ever experienced happened. One of my tools, that I had not owned for even a year, malfunctioned and it ended up ruining three batteries before I realized it was causing the problem with the batteries. The tool was shorting out the batteries and blowing a fuse inside the battery. The fuse itself is soldered to the BMS of the battery and there is not an easy way to change it without completely disassembling the battery including removing the spot welds on the cells themselves. One can only contact Greenworks Monday – Friday from like 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern time. No direct email for contact. One must call or do the online chat. No way I was going to sit on phone while on hold for absurdly long periods of time. I had to waste an entire lunch break trying to navigate the online chat. After a ridiculously frustrating runaround with their “Virtual” customer assistance, I was finally able to chat with an actual customer service representative. After already being thoroughly annoyed by their awful automated customer service, the representative demanded that I take a picture of the blown fuse which I could not do, as I was at work. Luckily, I did receive an email that I could finally contact Greenworks instead of their God forsaken chat. They then also demanded the model number and serial number of the tool and each of the batteries that were now ruined as well as the invoice from Amazon for the purchase. I provided the pictures, serial numbers, and model numbers (which I had already provided on their stupid online chat) and then had to wait until the next day to be informed that they would not accept the copy of the invoice because it was not the PDF version. I had to wait until I arrived home again to provide the PDF version of the invoice. By this time, it was the weekend and of course had to wait until Monday to be informed they would not be honoring the warranty. The reasoning: The invoice also listed an off-brand battery that I purchased to be used on a separate tool. I never used the off-brand battery on this particular tool as it was simply too bulky for this particular tool. They claimed that that is what caused the tool to fail. Such a load of BS. After spending literally hours compiling information and pictures and waiting days, I am notified that I simply have a defective and destructive tool and three other paper weights that used to be batteries. It would have been better if this tool simply didn’t work at the time of purchase. I could have at least returned it to Amazon. I will never buy another Greenworks tool again and I sincerely recommend everyone to avoid this garbage company altogether.

First out of the box, I discovered that I had been sent someone else's returned item. The item was dirty and scuffed in various places, with torn plastic sleeves. That's one star off. The instructions were fair to middling, although the trimmer assembly was pretty simple. I had it ready to go within 15 minutes. The battery had enough charge in it to start up right away. I let the battery charge for about an hour then got to work. The trimmer is very light weight and easy to use. After having some wrist issues, a regular gas-powered trimmer was too rough on my wrist, but this trimmer was perfect. It is easy to handle and gets around things well. I'm tall and it fit pretty well in my hands without a lot of bending over. I have 2 acres of yard and was able to get all around my house, pond, trees, etc. without needing a recharge, which was impressive. However...the auto-feeding function did not work, and still hasn't. It failed out of the box. Every time the line breaks (which is pretty often), the trimmer needs to be manually fed, which gets old quick. I manually opened up the line compartment about 8 times to manually thread new line out. That's another star off. Overall, this is slower than my gas-powered trimmer due to the auto-feed function failing miserably, but it is lighter and easier to use. 3 stars.

I bought a mower by this same company first. These are my first battery powered lawn tools. My other lawn tools were me-powered, which is not quite as good as batteries cuz I'm lazy. Still, I wish this whackamadoo whacked longer, as I tend to wait too long between whackings. Hense the neighbor hostility mentioned in the review for my mower. Overall tho, it's my laziness that means the battery power isn't enough, and also my laziness that used to bother my neighbors, so these are probably good greenworks lawn tools to buy. Once I got the lawn fixed up I started the naked potato sack race, naked ring toss shenanigans, and also a naked cornhole extravaganza. I call it the clean lawn olympics. My neighbors havent mentioned the lawn once since I started, so I assume I can recommend these tools. They DO mention the nudity sports, but can't win em all, and at least they like the look of my lawn.

thought it was a great little machine to have around the house but the line doesnt feed when you bump I cant even pull out more line with out taking the spool off. very big disappointment

Es muy fácil de usar. Solo el tiempo de uso es menor a los 45 min, fuera de eso la recaga de la batería es muy aceptable y permite continuar con el trabajo. Me gusto.
