Power Line - proving the power against fluorocarbon
Just trying the line for the 1st time (so bear that in mind), and proving quite strong. It is not fluorocarbon line, though... in case you were wondering about it. It is "Resin Impregnated Mono, made in Japan, 100 meters. I gave it 5 stars due to the "high recommendation" of the president of FIPS Mouche (WFFC folks) using it as his favorite line. He is a world class competitor, now retired, and mostly fishes dry flies. The smaller tippets IE smaller than 0.13 are incredibly strong for the diameter ratio - either the 0.10 or the .01mm. The only line offered on Amazon was the 1.3 line, so I bought 3 spools. A little smaller than 6X, it should prove very useful in the future on my dry fly fishing, especially in clear waters with tippet shy trout. I've found the line very soft and can twist easily with hackled flies using long lengths of tippet. So, drying the fly in the air with back casts may not prove the best thing with this line using very small tippet. I'll try it with nymphs in the future comparing it to the fluorocarbon to see if the fish notice a difference. I noticed this year at the World Fly Fishing Competition in Slovenia, one of the competitors was using mono for all of his fishing (dry & nymph), and doing quite well in the clear waters of that country.I'll try to write a better review after testing the line for over a year with larger trout.
