Collins is to be commended for his effort
This is a commendable contribution from Collins to origins debate. Though not an evolutionary creationist himself, Collins lays out the boundaries for possible 'evolutionary' scenarios for Adam and Eve that remain, in his view, biblically viable. The thing that struck me most about this book was this: the origins debate gets heated, and it's common to see those who disagree with evolutionary creationism write it off as dangerous full stop. But here, even though Collins is an EC opponent, he lovingly helps those who want to explore the different possibilities for Adam and Eve by providing them with biblical boundaries. Collins is a sane and friendly voice in the debate.I read this in 2018, and though the debate has progressed since Collins wrote this, it's still a worthwhile read for any Christian exploring evolutionary creationism. In fact, I'd recommend this as a good place to start in that journey.
