Yes, of course.If you lift the fish with the net handle straight up

Q: how do you extend the handle?

The handle does not extend. It can fold but does not extend. If it did extend this would be a fantastic net! Still really good purchase.

Q: It doesn't say anwhere what material the handle is made out of? What is it and is it study?

The handle is metal. It has a little give at the joint, but I have landed some fish up to about five pounds without any trouble.

It should work if the crab isnt small
