Blagdon Pond Algaway, Removes Blanketweed and String Algae, Pet & Wildlife Safe, Small, Treats 10,740L of Pond Water

Did not work despite 2 bottles and treating every week for 16 weeks! Don't waste your money.

I recently purchased this product to tackle the persistent blanket weed in my pond, and I must say, it gets the job done when used as directed. The process involves applying it once a month, and with some patience, you'll notice the once vibrant green weed turning brown and gradually disintegrating. While it does work effectively, I found that it may require 2 or 3 applications to achieve the desired results.However, I had one major concern when using this product. Unfortunately, I'm about 80% sure that it caused the demise of one of my pond plants. If you have delicate or cherished pond plants, I would advise considering an alternative like Blagdon pond balance. Not only does it perform the same job of controlling blanket weed, but it also promotes plant growth, which is a significant advantage.If you do decide to purchase the alternative product expect the granules to have been exposed to moisture during packaging, resulting in clumping. This makes it challenging to scoop the product consistently and can be a bit frustrating to deal with. To tackle this problem, I would recommend transferring the product to an airtight container upon purchase for better storage and usability.

Application was easy and after two doses improvements were noticeable and no apparent bad effects on fish👍

Does not work as I hoped

I used this to clear a small 1800 litre wildlife pond of string algae as per instructions. It cleared most of the algae which sank to the bottom. Some i then removed by hand but also used a clear pond product and then the sludge control. Overall there is a great improvement from the previous year and will use the same method again. Wildlife including newts and frogs are unaffected.

It's a lot of money for a bottle of wonder potion so I was careful to accurately dose the application and repeated religiously.Nothing happened for the entire duration of the course of treatment.Behold at the eleventh hour the blanket weed on our new wildlife pond retreated and half a year later has not returned.Duckweed has taken its place which is I suppose an improvement.Not sure if it was the Blagdon stuff or nature herself that did the deed but I would be willing to buy again should the need arise

Used the full container as directed. Didn’t touch the weed at all. Only bought this as I couldn’t get my usual brand. Extremely disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend at all. 1:10
