A great switch for a great price
Worked as advertised. It was just what I needed for my home theater set up.

Great for extending router Ethernet ports.
The back of my IP Internet tower has only 4 ethernet ports. I wanted to plug in 2 computers, solar inverter wifi, home thermostat wifi and security system wifi. That's 5 things, so I had to buy a wireless network card for one computer, or get more ethernet ports. I bought this to simply extend the number of ports I had, and it works great. I plugged in the 3 wifi smart home controllers to this, leaving 3 sockets on my router for direct computer Lan connections, which freed up 2 new ethernet port sockets on my router. This is a small 4" x 3" box, and I put something on top of it so it actually doesn't take up any premium space sitting on my router table.*IMPORTANT - this does not come with any cables. If you are buying it to extend your ethernet port sockets on your router like I did, you will need to buy a short cable to connect this to your router!I happened to have an old cat 5 short cable from an old modem laying around to connect it... but cat 5 is an outdated cable type which limits you to only 100 mb. This is plenty for most people, but if you have a very fast internet speed or don't already have a short cable from an old router/modem, you will need a cable, and cables are not included.I recommend you buy a short cat 6 Ethernet cable when you order this. I myself are waiting for my new cable to arrive from Amazon, just to have an updated cable. I found a 1' long cat 6 cable on Amazon for $.99 (a dollar). I didn't want to order a $1 item from Amazon by itself, so I waited til I had another order to tack it to. I still don't have it yet. Save yourself some time and buy your cable with this unit.Tip: the longer your cable, the more data drop off you have (it's not a lot, but with data, speed matters), so always buy the shortest cable to get the job done (this is true for monitor cables, ethernet cables, basically any/all data cable).I hope this is helpful!

Works well and a good price for the functionality. Small size ideal for connecting several devices to one port.
The first one of these I bought worked for about 5 minutes then died. Amazon sent me a new one and I printed a prepaid return label for the defective one. The replacement has worked flawlessly, and I have since purchased one more. These are very small and seem to do the job well. All ports are auto sensing so no need to worry about crossover cables. I am only subtracting one star due to the first one failing almost immediately and that delayed a project I was working on for two days.

Inexpensive performance for your home wifi
This little port works great. Plug and play. It maintains the velocity as if it was connected directly to the main modem. I use it to connect my mesh system across the house. This connects to the main modem, and then all mesh units are wired to the gigaport. All register 98% of velocity at modem across all areas of the house. Same speed at basement, first and second floor. Very handy addition, and inexpensive.

Excellent choice for Google Nest Wifi
I had recently upgraded my mesh network from Netgear Orbi to Google Nest Wifi. But because the Nest only comes with 1 extra LAN port, I needed a switch. I used the Orbi Router RBR50 as an access point, and connected my devices (printer, etc) to its LAN ports. It worked well for a while, but as time went on, I kept losing my connections and had to reset mu network every day. I looked around for a compatible switch for my Nest wifi and I discovered that the Netgear 5-port Gigabit switch was one of the recommended switches.Since I installed it I had no issues with my connectivity. It works great!I highly recommend this product.

Works Perfectly
This does exactly what it is supposed to do. 5 network ports, and supports up to gigabit speed. If you are unfamiliar with switches (as I was), I'm basically using it to share my wired network outlet that is hooked up to the internet with several wired devices. You can plug the "incoming" internet network cable into any of the ports, and your devices into any of the other ports, and it just works like magic. So in my case, one of the ports is taken up by the internet network cable, and that leaves me with 4 for my devices. I've watched tons of movies, TV shows, and played online games over it (all at once on separate devices) with no problems whatsoever. The device is tiny, quiet, very light weight, and I haven't found the LED lights to be bothersome at all. I got the plastic 5 port white model, and the device itself measures at 4.25 inches across, 1 inch tall, and 2.75 inches deep. The specs seem to show the box measurements, but the device itself is quite small.
