This works very well and provides lots more bubbles than the usual air stones.

I primarily use this in a 5 gallon tank with African cichlid fry to get a little more air flow for them to stay healthy. I have it hooked up to a large air pump, but I'm running several other things from it including an adjustable valve to control air flow. You don't need a very powerful pump at all to get the desired effect from this air stone.It produces a large amount of small bubbles for a solid couple of weeks, then as it gets filled with minerals from the harder water and algae it diminishes slightly. After a few weeks it still works better than any other air stones, the bubbles are just slightly larger.A 30 minute soak in very light vinegar or peroxide and water with a quick scrub and it's back to its original state.The suction cups it came with are cheap and failed pretty quickly, but I didn't buy it for its suction cups. Not a deal breaker at all.Highly recommended for fry OR to help airate excess ammonia from a tank. Sometimes I switch it to the back compartment of my 15 gallon to aid with this and it clears up the ammonia in a day.

This thing performed wonderfully for the first month or so, and then of course it started to collect algae. I cleaned it the first time with just water and a scouring sponge, and it restored the function pretty well. A few weeks later I tried cleaning it again, but this time it seemed so clogged that it would not clean up and/or function at all. I was ready to toss it, then read one of the reviews about using vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to clean it. I soaked it for about four hours in hydrogen peroxide, pulling it out a few times to scrub the surface. Then I rinsed it really well and let it sit in well water overnight. The next day it still would not produce any bubbles, but I took the hose from the pump and blew really hard through it for several seconds ( repeated a few times). All I can figure is I was able to dislodge the algae that had gotten into the stone ( I couldn’t see anything), and now it works like it did on day one.Next time I’ll try just blowing it and see how that works. I like the fact that it stays in place on the bottom, I’ve tried others that end up floating despite the suction cups.

After reading some other positive reviews, I have concluded that much with these Hygger pumps is in the ear of the listener. I find them too noisy, and too much noise in the aquarium is unacceptable. I have found all "nano" air stones to be noisier than the traditional ones. If I were a scientific researcher, I would secure funding to compile data, but all I can leave you with is anecdotal evidence, my experience. The bubbles are pretty, but I am unwillingly to exchange the contentedness of my two goldfish for viewing pleasure. After all, I'm around for an hour or two gazing at them and making chirping noises. They have to live in the tank, and I want it to be as quiet as possible. So it's the good old, tried and tested giga stones for me.It pains me to leave anything negative about any product made by Hygger. In my estimation, it is one of the most venerable brands out there, sharing top rank with Eheim. (My 4-star rating is out of respect for the brand.) The air pumps Hygger makes are absolutely the best. Solid and quiet and powerful. I highly recommend them. But these stones suffer from the rush to market the latest new "nano" devices. An air stone is not an Intel chip, and my ear tells me it is best to leave something alone if it isn't hissing. Sticking to the tried and true and to tradition, after all, is one of the things that makes a venerable brand venerable.

I bought this over a year ago and it’s still going strong!

We have had this product for just about three months now. The bubble effect is fantastic and puts out a great amount of air. The issue is with the algae buildup on the stone itself. We go to Great Lengths to keep our tank clean yet algae has built up on top of the Stone. I have taken great effort to clean the top of the unit with hot water and a scrub brush but I don't want to expose it to any chemicals. Despite my best efforts the bubbler still has green algae spots all over it. It is quite unsightly to have a well maintained tank with a nice white bubble apparatus yet having it covered with algae. Very unhappy with the product and if I had known this was going to happen in this short of amount of time would definitely have purchased a different item. Definitely not worth it for about three months of use for the price. The reviews mention how well it works which it does but not how impossible it is to clean it. I'm not necessarily saying a more expensive one would be better or a less expensive one would be worse but check out all the options available before purchasing this one. Since I'm past the return window I can't send it back and now I'm stuck with a disgusting piece of aquarium Hardware that has to be replaced when it should have lasted a bit longer

The theme I was going for with my fish tank was high fashion, white, minimalist. Few pieces of driftwood to add color and sparsely placed white decorations. This thing fit the design perfectly. The bubbles it makes gives it an elegant beautiful appeal as opposed to the normal bubble bars. I loved this thing and was beyond estatic with it initially. Then the algae came. I knew it would happen eventually after seeing it mentioned in so many reviews. I had an unused toothbrush to try and scrub the algae off (per another reviews suggestion) and it seemed to help at first but was overall in vain. From there the algae colonized deeper into the stone and was a nightmare to try and clean. Since I loved the visual effect of the bubbles I left what was becoming an eye sore and just tried to hide it more with the gravel. Then boom, largest algae bloom I've ever had in ny fish keeping career. Now this thing is a ghost of fish tank past. I do actually still recommend this air stone but I would recommend it more to people with more experience controlling the algae growth or to people who want a short term statement in their tank.

When I first got this bubbler I was excited and put it into the aquarium to soak as instructed. After leaving it in the aquarium overnight I attached it to the pump and it did not work(sad face). I left it in for a day and it did not work. Purchased a pump for a 100 gallon aquarium and behold it worked. I had had a pump for a 75 gallon aquarium. Now my turtle loves having a bubble bath and reorganizing her aquarium. I love these bubblers and recommend them to anyone with a larger pump.

Simple but by far the best and super quiet.

It satisfies the need of a standard no-frill bubble stone.

When its new the bubbles are very fine, now a month old, the bubbles are less fine, algae in the surface, maybe the cause. Its a good airstone whatever.
