Dimensionally Accurate but Cutting Edge Could be Better
This spiral cut tapered reamer by DeckRkat is ¾” diameter and made from M2 high speed steel (HSS). It features a non-slip shank that can be used with any 1/2" drill chuck. I've used straight flute reamers for hole finishing but this tapered reamer is ideal for removing more material and you can start with a much smaller hole. I generally prefer to cut a hole that is only about 1/16" undersized when cutting steel through-holes but the length of this reamer requires enough clearance beyond the hole opening to be sure you hit the target diameter of the reamer. With this ¾” reamer, that would be about 4”. Unlike a typical twist drill, the spiral cutting flutes are designed to push the cutting chips away from the hole opening. This has multiple uses for creating dimensionally accurate holes but this ¾” size requires a slow cutting speed to ensure a cleaner cut and to prevent overheating. Cutting oil would be recommended if you're removing a large amount of material in steel but it generally doesn't hurt to use it with softer metals too. Under a magnifier, the blade edges do appear to be rough along some parts of the cutting edge and this will manifest an inconsistent cutting effect as you push through the hole. For some jobs, this may not be a big deal but I would have expected to see a consistent sharp edge along all cutting flutes. The reamer comes complete with a protective case and at the current price of $31.98, I'll give this 4 stars.

Awesome Reamer
I’ve been working on installing some conduit and lines in my shop and didn’t really want to use a regular hole saw.For those that have never used a reamer bit, it’s designed to widen a hole, not make one. This requires you to drill through the material with a 1/2” bit. After you do that you can use this to gradually widen the hole. If you are going to use this I highly recommend adjusting the clutch on the drill. If you don’t this will grab when drilling and it will twist the everloving crap out of your wrist.I have been using this for a while and it is still going strong. I’d gladly get this again and it’s been great to use.

Good for counter sinks
Isn't really what this was intended for, but I've been using it like a counter sink but on metal. Because of the taper you can use it on a wide variety of sizes! If pared with one of the small bits you could basically use the 2 of them to drill counter sinks on any sized hole!!There built strong an made to last! Great quality

I think this would do what I need...
But I got the wrong size. I need to enlarge the holes on preexisting intercom box to install a faceplate for a cam doorbell. So, in theory I think this reamer drill bit would have done a good job. I just the need a smaller size.

Questionable staying power
It worked pretty well at the beginning drilling through 3/8 steel with a suitable pilot hole. The finish was a bit disappointing and required some finesse and patience to get to the 3/4" point. I used cutting oil liberally throughout the process. I used a Snap-on pneumatic drill with a 5 h.p. 60 gallon compressor so power was not my issue. The reamer grabbed hard several times. In a very confined space this is not pleasant. As this process of needing a 3/4 hole in a class 8 vehicle frame was a rarity for me, this reamer would still be a possibility if price was a primary concern.
