YOO.MEE Shut-Off Brass Ball Valve 1/2'' Standard Connections with Polished Chrome Finish

It seems many people buy these to stop leaky showers, but my use case is for turning the water down or off easily while in the shower to save water when lathering or shaving. After looking at several different ones, I went with this due to the ball valve, to prevent possible restriction from the disc style. I only installed it today, but so far, it's working great. As others have stated, it turns the water off completely, contributes no discernible restriction when completely open, and can be used to reduce the flow to any point in between. There's also no question about this being solid metal, as it's heavy, and it appears to be well made, so durability shouldn't be an issue. Of course, if anything changes, I'll try to come back and update this. The weak point on stuff like this is often the failure to use stainless screws, so time will tell if the one used to mount the handle rusts.My biggest concern with it was how easy the handle would turn, and I'm happy to say it turns very easily and smoothly, though of course not so easily as to turn on its own or with a slight bump. My only real complaint about it at this point is that the handle can't be mounted the other way. That is, the way it's designed, the handle points anywhere from toward the shower head to the ceiling, depending on how open or closed it is, in my setup, as you can see in the pictures. I'd prefer it to point away from the shower head or down, since that would be slightly more ergonomic, but that's a very minor issue. I was hoping to find one with a side-to-side adjustment like on the disc valve type, but after searching for a while and not finding one, I realized it probably can't be done, as such an adjustment knob wouldn't be able to rotate the ball. I just need to figure out how to tell this handle from the extension arm's tightening knob above it, so I don't accidentally turn the wrong one when I can't open my eyes.The additional parts I bought to go with this, which you can see in the pictures, are a WaterPoint 11+ inch extension arm and the HammerHead all metal shower head. Both of those also seem to be great quality as well. The teflon tape I used is Mill-Rose 70885 Blue Monster PTFE 1/2" tape. 1/4" tape, if there is such a thing, would be better because you could control how much is left showing after, but you can also simply cut off the excess with a knife, which I did on some, but not all, of the connections.

That old sink-- Dad installed over 60 years ago- and has been leaking all around. I have to go outside and down to the basement down a steep hill and down tall steps-- hard for me to do (got mashed between 2 trucks in 99 and don't get around well on flat ground!!) Anyway- I found these-- got them in 2 days-- and they are PERFECT.. Easy to install right up against the back wall of the cabinet... and put the feed line on it- and now if I have another leak- can shut the water off in here without going down that hill and risking a fall in winter. GREAT PRICE-- fit perfectly- and work GREAT.

I purchased this valve after I had to discard a previous valve that leaked. I was impressed with the craftsmanship and finish of the product. Most importantly, it was easy to install and it works well. Highly recommend.

Easy to install. Perfect fit, washer included. Never leeks. A month after installation the valve is still difficult to operate. Is this Good craftsmanship. Or poorly designed? I recommend this product.

Update 08/11/23: I have now had this valve since April of 2020 and have not experienced a single issue with it. I highly recommend it to those that need a total shut off valve or to control water pressure for their shower. This is one of the best products I have purchased off of Amazon, hands down.Update: I have had this valve for just a shade over a year and a half and zero complaints. Haven’t had to take it off and adjust it or anything. Low maintenance.I would give this valve more than five stars if I could. I have had it for six months and it works fantastic! My mixer valve is broken and lets hot water out in a stream. This valve totally shuts off the water without having to run back and forth to shut off the main ball valves going to the shower. All you have to do is simply turn the valve on behind the shower head, turn your water on and you’re good to go. Installation wasn’t difficult at all.

I don't know what some of these reviews are talking about. I have been looking for something that goes up by the shower head to cut the water off. Believe me, I can be anal about reading all the reviews on things. This one does it. Take it from me, I worked for a water department for 36 years, so I know fittings and pipe. This shut off cuts the water off COMPLETELY! I have a normal shower head I got from Home Depot with the hose and a swivel ball fitting. I used Teflon tape on the shower gooseneck from the wall, installed this valve, Teflon taped the male end and installed the swivel ball fitting. No problems whatsoever. Turned the water on, same pressure as without it. The shut off handle moved easy, the water was completely shut off. No drips. No leaks. I really think my teenage daughter could install this in 15-30 minutes with no problems! This shut off valve was made very good. Feels weighty like its made well. I think the only plastic was the handle and maybe the ball shut off inside. When open, it is a complete hole you can look straight through it. Get this if you want no drips, no errors, same prerssure as before and a complete shut off of water.

If your primary toilet shut off valve is getting old or weak this is the perfect solution. I wanted to replace my toilet but I live in an apartment (the apartment manager did not want to do it because the old one was still working--but I was tired of looking at it brown discoloration), therefore, I decided to do it myself. But, the original toilet shut off valve did not work correctly. It stopped a lot of the water but still allowed a fairly steady drip, therefore, I looked for a solution to stop this. Eventually, through trial and error and talking to a plumber at Lowe's I learned of this product. Lowes didn't have it, but fortunately I found it here on Amazon. It works great, and I replaced my toilet without getting any water on the floor.

I found it...The very best flow reducer/ shut off ball valve!!!! Zero leaking at the threads - didn't need teflon tape!!(I connected this one at the hand shower and end of the hose....Not at the angle flange coming from the wall) No reduction in PSI (PRESSURE) or flow rate, so I did not have to remove the flow restrictor in the shower head/hand shower product if I did not want to. So happy, bought more, next for combo shower head, and for single shower head for guests (not hand held) so now I will use teflon tape on the angle flange- because that always works.
