Darklands [180gm Vinyl]

Darklands was the follow up to Psychocandy and their second album.Psycho had Bobby Gillespie on drums,this one has drum machines.I normally shy away from primitive stuff like that but it fits this album.it's not about the drums.this is a collection of beautiful songs that sounds right the way they are.JAMC has a great output (Honeys dead,stoned and dethroned among others).I think Psychocandy and Darklands are best.but if i could afford I would get all the remasters.they are done the right way.peace.

Finally got around to repurchasing this cd. Both this and Psychocandy were two of my favorites from my high school days. Playing goth RPG games like Vampire the Masquerade and having this playing in the background perfectly set the mood.Those days way behind me, it is still a fantastic album full of tasty static distortion which I have grown to love in other bands that came later like the Raveonnettes.

I liked the samples of this record when I listened to them on amazon. I was totally blown away by how great the songs were in its totality when I got the cd and heard it all. I thought it was better than Automatic and Psycho Candy combined and I really love those too. Great cd! Worth every cent!

Just like their first album Psychocandy, this is an amazing achievement, a brooding and beautiful work that becomes more and more sublime with each listen.
