Deceptive, but looks good in the end
Deceptive. This said the core was plastic and coated in carbon fiber. Not real carbon fiber. It is a CF graphic. This should be clearly called out in the description.I have not installed. Debating if I want to send them back or just say the heck with it since the car might be sold soon.Update: So, I went ahead with the install. What you should know?- The end product looks pretty good, though I still wish it was wrapped in actual carbon fiber.- The install was actually pretty tough. Taking off the door panels is a breeze (less than 5 minutes for me), but getting a hand and a wrench inside the door and up behind the glass to reach the two 10mm bolts is a bit challenging. Once I figured it just the right way to accomish this, it was easier the second time I installed the first handle. That brings me to my next point.- The residual flashing on one of the plastic parts that acts like a gasket was not trimmed well in the manufacturing process. You will need to trim away the excess with a razor knife like I did in one of the pictures or it will stick out around the handle. I had to pull the handle off, trim, and re-install.- The rod that connects to the handle needed modified to work with my 2008 GT. In the picture with the stock handle, you should notice the rod has a u-shaped hook to it where it attaches to the handle and goes up and around from the left side. On the new one, the plastic piece is on the right side and the hook won't fit through or around any part of the new assembly. I had to bend away the u-shape and leave a 90 degree bend with a straight section. I also had to flip the 90 degree bend to the opposite side since right and left hand routing was switched. This probably has something to do with the years where Ford made a switch but Yates should look into this.Once it is done, it looks pretty good and feels nice and tight. You're maybe looking at two hours if you know how to take the door panels off or longer if not.
