The perfect balance of longevity, texture, and ingredients.
After using this product for two months, I have come to a well rounded opinion of this cream. I have only found benefits in using it due to the nature of the product, there was a time where I would ride without chamois cream and it didn't go very well. Let's start with what sold me on this product: the natural ingredients. I browsed through amazon and compared many chamois creams and found this one to be the best fit for me due to the ingredients. For some reason, the name also made a good impression lol.It has a pleasant and minty scent with a touch of earthiness to it. I appreciate that it isn't strong, Upon applying it has a thick and slippy consistency. There is substance to it as it doesn't feel watery and cheap. The durability is another positive: I rode in a recent 112 degree heatwave for about 3 hours and it held up beautifully. Some may find this product costly and go for the other cheaper creams, but I can prove that although it comes in what some may think is a small jar. After approximately 300 miles using this stuff, I still have a little over half the jar full. A little goes a long way and it works well. I've slathered a lot onto the chamois once and it didn't go very well because it went all over the place, so try not to slather a whole lot. Here's a tip: I dab two fingers worth (I don't scoop it) and methodically apply it on the chamois pad where the saddle makes contact and this method has worked out well. You'll learn how much is the right quantity after getting a feel for it. Some riders may need to apply it directly to their thighs, do this last to avoid contaminating the chamois cream.

Works Well and Lasts a Long Time- I'm Going for the Gooch
I've used several brands of chamois cream including the most popular purple and yellow labeled stuff. The first time I used Gooch Guard was yesterday, and I was impressed that when I got home after a 30-mile ride I noticed it was still there where I had applied it. I find that many other brands tend to"wash" off once you begin to perspire down there. I only giving it 4 stars right now because a jar of this stuff is almost the same price as 8 ounces of the more popular brand but only contains 4.2 ounces, about half the amount of product. If I find that I don't have to reapply it as often and that it works for a longer time, I'll come back and update my rating. For now though it's a bit pricey for how much you get.Update 3/15/16: I've now used this product several times and on several long rides. My initial review still stands- it works well, last longer, and doesn't wash off. I keep this stuff for when I'm riding 50 or more miles, and use another less expensive brand that works well for shorter rides. I still have about 2/3 of a jar left, and I haven't yet decided if I'll buy another when this runs out. My last test of this product will be when I use it in the warmer months that are just around the corner.UPDATE 5/31/2016: Now I've used Gooch Guard in both cold and hot weather. In both cases it works well and doesn't wash away with perspiration for a long time. As other reviewers have mentioned it is pricey compared to other anti-chafing products. The question about it's price really boils down to does it work well and does it last enough to justify its price. The answer to these questions is a resounding YES! I'm still using my less expensive cream for those shorter rides, but for the longer ones, 40 miles and up, Gooch Guard is my go to! As far as how long it lasts- I'm getting ready to order my second jar of it as my existing supply is running low just now. Also to demonstrate how satisfied I am with this product I'm upgrading my review for it from 4 to 5 stars.Update 10/17/2016:This is still my favorite chamois cream. Also the price is now $2 less and delivery is now Prime eligible.Update 4/22/21:As of this writing my less expensive, second tier, source of chamois cream no longer produces it, and I'm back to using Gooch Gurad as my premium go-to brand. Now, comparing it to a popular Swiss-made brand that I've tried and liked, Gooch Guard has resumed my top spot for both price and value. For about 6 bucks less Gooch Guard performs as well if not better than it's expensive Swiss-made competitor. I love the menthol in this cream as it creates a soothing layer between me and my shorts, and has the added benefit of preventing the itch that can become a problem in the warmer months. The little fungi that make you itch don't like menthol.

Works as advertised.
This stuff works great as intended. I was a bit skeptical, afraid it would be greasy or petroleum jelly like in feel (even though it does not contain any petroleum jelly), or leave me feeling like I was swimming around in the padded shorts. The odor is not too strong, especially once it goes on, but it definitely was different than expected. Without getting too personal, it certainly smells better than not using it! And it works, as noted. It does not feel greasy at all, going on easily. It has the right thickness to it, making for easy application and keeps down there from getting too sore. I am allergic to darn near everything, so I was happy to not have a reaction to it. And it does not leave residue behind, with no grease like staining visible on the chamois after use. Recommended, with the minor caveat of the scent.

Diappointing product
I have used various products over the years and this I'm afraid to say is the worst one i have come across from the time you open the tub. It smells like hand cleaner, so I had to check, if i ordered the correct one.The cream was like old in texture and then when i started to use it (giving it the benefit of doubt) it has no firmness to the cream and once you use it, it feels like using heat rub and gets hotter as you rideSo be warned riders - be careful if you want to or this product - there are much better out there. No good valuee for money!!
