I consider myself a simple woman, who has been Richly Blessed even through the loss of an only child and through addictions. I try to follow healthy people and that's where I found Rich Routines by Steve H. Following his Lovely family. This book is easy for everyone to follow along. The chapters are filled with Love, kindness and a wealth of wisdom. I will be listening again and again as many Godly principles are spoken into all he's sharing and I think the world is in need of us all living richer in spirit and among one another. This book 'Rich Routines' covers all phases of life with the most solid advice you will ever read. It discusses, relationships, marriage, spirituality, parenthood, how to save money and how to wisely invest. This isn't some fluffy feel good life advice book, it's solid tested and proven advice.How do I know this? The author, Steve Houghton is someone I got to know many years ago when he and his wife Jennifer, first moved to Dallas, where I lived at the time. We met at church. They were young, fresh out of BYU University, and excited with their new opportunity, an opportunity he found out quickly he didn't like, you will read all about that in the book.My late wife and I became like a big brother and sister to them. We had young boys the same age who enjoyed playing together, we'd invite them to dinner and send them home with leftovers to stock the fridge, as we knew they were being very frugal, a trait we greatly admired and did our best to follow.Shortly, Steve founded his business and very creatively managed to raise money to buy note packages from failed banks back in the Resolution Trust Days. He turned a small sum into a fortune. He wanted to buy apartments which I specialized in brokering at the time but, my advice to him was don't buy them, too much headache. "What should I invest in" he ask. Now this is where I've said for years I gave someone a million dollar idea I didn't follow myself. "Invest in mini warehouses, that's the trend of today." Well today he owns thousands of warehouse units and they are all cash cows. He was already on the trail to educate himself on mini warehouses when I gave that advice, I think I solidified it in his mind.Steve never hesitates to give back, he owns and pilots his own helicopter, recently donating his time and helicopter to fly supplies into the disaster area of Asheville NC.This book is a valuable read for anyone of any age and I encourage you to please obtain and read it, not just because Steve is a friend of mine, but also because you are a friend of mine, even if we’ve never met, and I know you will find the information contained valuable to your own life. I just ordered copies for my kids and I told them to read it cover to cover with highlighter in hand, and to review it often. As someone who has spent years in the Early Childhood Education field, I find myself to be very mindful and intentional about how I raise my kids. But listening to Steve talk about ways he and Jen have created safe spaces for their kids to have open conversations really impacted me in a good way. I have never thought about implementing things as my kids get out of the early childhood stage. His book encouraged me to have conversations with my husbands about how we want to go about creating those same safe spaces. His book makes you want to do the same things, but in a way where he’s not telling you to do them the same way he’s doing it! (If that makes sense). He also reflects on how he has done things that we not perfect, and that gave him the opportunity to reflect and apologize and show his kids he makes mistakes too was highly motivational. Listening to Steven’s words at the end and how highly he speaks of his dad brought tears to my eyes. I hope someday my children and family think so highly of me. Bringing joy, and fun into lessons of the Lord and encouraging following Him, and the importance of following Him are also things I plan to implement as well. Weekly family night is also a fabulous idea that allows families to be intentional about creating uninterrupted family time. I simply can not recommend this book enough. It is an easy read, or an easy listen. I have even read along as I was listening to his soothing voice!

I’m only on Chapter 3 and I’ve already taken away so many things that I would like to implement in my own life! I told me husband that he could read this next if he would like because I’m enjoying it so much.

I preordered this book with so much excitement for it to be released. It was truly worth the wait. I have followed Steve and his family for years online and am daily inspired by the way they cultivate their daily lives and families to not only be successful but to shine their light with kindness and humility.This book is a true extension of who Steve is and his passion for being a leader of his family and community while building generational wealth and success. I am grateful he shared his heart in this book with us so we can learn from his example. The book itself is an easy but inspiring read packed full of relatable content to help you align yourself to your own purpose and to be successful in your goals. I am actually reading through it a second time now because there are so many great nuggets of wisdom to take in.After reading this book I feel more inspired and motivated to go after my goals and to help my family do the same. Thank you Steve for giving of your time to write this book and to share with us so we can all learn from your wisdom and carry it out into the world with our own lives. Truly grateful!
