Bought this to diagnose an issue with my car. Had terrific success, with the car back in action less than 24hrs after receiving this item.This device is so simple to use, reading error codes is simply a couple of taps away, and you're provided both the code and a short description of the fault allowing for easy diagnosis. You can also view pending codes, such as when you're buying a car and need to see if the previous owner cleared any check engine lights, and also clear your own faults.The device also lets you view a whole host of live data from the car, temps, mileage, revs, and lots of stuff way over my head but glad to have in case I need to diagnose a strange fault down the line.The device has a small amount of memory as well so you can store codes and data and then review later from the comfort of your home by plugging the device into a USB port.It's small enough to fit nicely in your hand and very light. It also comes with a pouch to store it in, and the generously lengthed cable comes with an attached Velcro strap to keep it tidy. The screen is clear and easy to read.Overall, very happy with this device and would gladly recommend to anyone looking for an OBDII tool.

I only just started driving again after a brief hiatus of 15 years. I bought a cheap VW Polo for only a grand. Only after a few weeks the ‘Check Engine’ light illuminated so I immediately took the car to the garage. They proceeded to charge me £50 to diagnose the problem. I believe this is the standardminimum extortionate rate in the UK.I was amazed that cars nowadays have ECUs ( A type of electronic control unit that controls a series of actuators on an internal combustion engine to ensure optimal engine performance).After a costly repair in the garage the engine light came on once again.I scoured the internet and thought that for £20 why not purchase the NX301.Ease of deliveryThe product arrived quickly just after placing my order. I arranged for a collection to be made at my local sorting office.PackagingWell packaged. The unit came in a sturdy box that includes software to update the unit, and a lead that you can plug into the pc to enable you to print. A comprehensive manual too.Build QualityThe unit is by no means a ‘cheap and cheerful’ product. It is quite robust and comes with a thick lead; you plug it into the car’s ECU using a 16-pin male connector that connects to your 16-pin female connector in your car.Ease of useI plugged the unit into the car and instantly it communicated with the car’s computer immediately showing me a wealth of information about the car. A code came up that suggested I had trouble with a solenoid which I easily replaced myself. Saving garages’ diagnostic fees and labour charges.ConclusionNot all cars that were built before 2003 support the OBDII standard hence the device won’t work with your car. And I believe some cars that have wiring and sensor problems may not be able to use most obdii scanners.But this professional unit is a must and comes with a tidy bag that you can stow in your car. And if you break down you have on hand information to relay to the breakdown service. You are in charge!!!!!! Well worth the money!!!!

Worked perfectly on my son's VW Golf and correctly identified the one problem that we knew it had but encountered an issue when using it on my Vauxhall Zafira where the DTC Count reading varied from 58 to 100 each time I ran the diagnostics but could not show me the error codes as it said that they were "not stored in the module". Whether the machine just couldn't read them or my engine ECU is faulty I do not know.However, the marks I have given reflect that for the price, this machine is sturdy, well built and very easy to use.What attracted me to the Nexpeak was the facility to download the data onto a computer or tablet and then be able to print it out (after downloading and installing the free Nexpeak software).The results of the diagnosis tests appear to be very comprehensive but not being a fully trained motor mechanic most of the results meant very little to me. What I wanted was to be able to see what errors existed so that I could address any that might become critical. Not being able to read the codes though was a great disappointment.The instruction manual that comes with the machine is very basic and only adequate to be able to plug in and use the machine. It is of no assistance at all in interpreting the results but then given that it is "universal" for all makes and models of cars across the world, perhaps this was an unreasonable expectation of mine.In conclusion, if you have a VW Mk VI Golf - go for it. This machine does the business. If you have a Vauxhall Zafira then maybe/maybe not. I'll amend this review if I ever get to the bottom of the code reading problem I encountered if it turns out to my ECU!

Bought this product as I had been meaning to for a while now. Having read a few reviews decided to go for this NEXPEAK NX301.Came same day I ordered it in a very professional box with instructions, USB cable and carry pouch.Updated it via their website which was easy to do (although it says to hold down OK when you turn it on but on mine it's ENTER).Connected it to test it on our Toyota Yaris 04, which I knew Already had EM light on for a previously diagnosed fault.The garage we took it to were at a loss to really find the exact problem and advised us to "just live with it" Which we have done for nearly 3 years.Basically it came up with the same code the garage test report showed (see pic 2)and charged for! Can't remember how much it cost but People on these review's seem to mention about £50 which seems about right.I could clear the code and the EM LIGHT with this too which is good but obviously it came back a few seconds later as fault still there.Fantastic bit of kit, hopefully I'll never use it again, but if the worst happens at least I'll know before taking it into garage and it'll save me a few quid. What's more likely is I'll save a neighbour or friend £50 when they borrow it as things like this always seem to go that way. 😇Fully recommended 👍If I had to be critical I'd make carry pouch a bit bigger. Bit of a squeeze with booklet, device and cables and perhaps a cover for the connector when not in use 👏 5 stars.

I had some fault lights on my wife's 2013 Ford Focus tdi and I had a cheap OBD2 scanner from an auction site which was completely hopeless. I bought the NEXPEAK OBD2 Reader NX301 Universal OBDII Car Diagnostic Scanner Tool from Amazon and it arrived next day. Within 2 mins I had ran the diagnostics and had a list of the faults. The menu system and options are brilliant. Very easy to use. I liked the live data readings option. I found the faults, cleared them and rechecked. All sorted. I need to read the manual as there are lots of features/options. Manual is good quality. Highly recommend for the DIY mechanic and professional.

I purchased this to try to find out why the check engine light was illuminated on a 2015 VW Golf. The first time I checked, one code came up. It said that there was a ground fault on the #2 glow plug circuit.I cleared the check engine light but it came back on then next time I operated the vehicle.This time the Nexpeak NX301 showed 2 codes. I was only able to read one of them. It also related to a ground fault on a glow plug, but a different cylinder number.The device would not let me read the second code as it was impossible to scroll down the list of codes. I pressed 'esc' and tried to re load the code list but the unit stated that there were no Stored or Pending codes.I noted the second code number and did a web search. It also related to a fault with a glow plug.The unit only reads generic codes, which in many cases are not what the problem is.I have since found out that there is nothing wrong with the glow plug wiring and that the fault was with the mass flow sensor.

The headline is the reason I bought this gizmo.Nice handy thing with good length of lead, plus cable to connect to PC.If you buy one of these things, hopefully the following will help. One, download and install the upgrade software first before connecting the device. Run the upgrade program and make sure the program is online (the interface is not brilliant and the internet button goes blue from red when connected). Then, holding down the Up arrow on the device, plug it in to the USB. If successful there is a message saying "Connected to Com 4" (that's the port on my PC anyway). You can then hit the update button on the PC program screen and it will update taking around 2 - 3 minutes, perhaps less. Device is then ready to use on the car.Powered up as soon as it was plugged in to the OBD2 socket but returned a message saying could not communicate. It did prompt me to check the connection so I made quite sure the plug was fully on. I don't whether Subaru prongs on the OBD2 connector are marginally shorter than other cars but anyway making sure the connector was fully on did the trick and the diagnostics and the erase codes functions worked first time.There are various tests that this thing does that I will have to get into later. The support side on the manufacturer's site seems pretty good as well. Downloading the upgrade software and the update itself was straightforward and there appears to be some free utilities that I haven't had a chance yet to look into.

A few months ago I spent over £50 on my Honda getting it checked the engine light. So I decided to buy this OBDII Fault Code Reader Tool and now I can read the code myself, saved me so much of money. Now I can just go myself to the garage and tell them what is wrong with my car.Was easier to use then I expected. I found the OBD2 diagnostic socket just where the manual said it would be. Plugged it in. I turned on the car and the Reader booted up a simple menu. I just read the code and this awesome Code Reader told me in really easy English what the problem was. Now I know what’s the problem with my car, why my dashboard looked like a l Christmas tree with all the warning lights on. It helps me to recognize the issue’s and from now on, if it’s only a minor problem maybe I can fix it myself, checking on Youtube how to deal with the situation, or Even if I have to take it to someone else to repair, I will know ahead of time the error my car is having.I would definitely recommend this product for anyone needing to pull codes when that check engine lights comes on.
Save yourself some money! Get the parts yourself and maybe even do the labour on your own if you're able to!
