A Nourishing Companion on the PCOS Journey: Meals She Eats Cookbook
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) As someone living with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), I've often struggled to find a cookbook that not only caters to my dietary needs but also provides delicious, satisfying meals. However, my search came to an end when I discovered the remarkable "Meals She Eats" cookbook. This culinary masterpiece has become an invaluable companion on my PCOS journey, and I'm excited to share how these meals have positively impacted my health. One of the standout features of this cookbook is its focus on meals that are specifically designed to support women with PCOS. The author's extensive knowledge of PCOS and its dietary implications shines through in the carefully crafted recipes. Each dish is thoughtfully balanced, incorporating ingredients that are known to benefit women with PCOS. "Meals She Eats" offers a wide variety of recipes that prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods. From vibrant salads packed with leafy greens and antioxidants to comforting soups and stews rich in fiber, the cookbook provides an array of options that not only taste delicious but also help manage the symptoms of PCOS. These meals are designed to regulate blood sugar levels, support hormone balance, and promote overall well-being. Another notable aspect of this cookbook is its emphasis on low-glycemic index (GI) foods. PCOS is often associated with insulin resistance, and a diet that incorporates low-GI foods can help stabilize blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. "Meals She Eats" expertly incorporates these low-GI ingredients into its recipes, ensuring that each meal contributes to better metabolic health. Moreover, the cookbook encourages a well-rounded approach to nutrition by including recipes that are rich in healthy fats, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. These macronutrients play a vital role in maintaining satiety, balancing hormones, and supporting overall health. With "Meals She Eats," I've discovered a delightful range of recipes that nourish my body and keep me satisfied throughout the day. Beyond its remarkable health benefits, "Meals She Eats" is a visually stunning book that engages and inspires. The mouthwatering food photography captures the essence of each recipe, making it all the more enticing to try new dishes and embrace a PCOS-friendly lifestyle. In addition to the delicious recipes, the cookbook provides insightful information about PCOS and its connection to nutrition. It educates readers about the importance of mindful eating, portion control, and adopting sustainable dietary habits. The author's compassionate approach and well-researched advice create an empowering resource that supports women with PCOS on their path to wellness. In conclusion, "Meals She Eats" is a game-changer for anyone navigating the challenges of PCOS. The carefully curated recipes not only tantalize the taste buds but also contribute to better hormonal balance and improved overall health. With its wealth of PCOS-specific information, this cookbook has become an indispensable tool in my kitchen. I highly recommend "Meals She Eats" to all women with PCOS who are seeking delicious, nourishing meals that support their well-being.

Even if you boil water and don't understand the science, you will understand the book
My sister has had this book for a few weeks and this is what she has to say about this book: (TDLR: She loves it, but a couple things to note) Here is why it is great: 1) It is very easy to understand. This book is written by two people who aren't doctors, who break down your different cycle phases and things to do and eat during each phase in a very easy to understand way. I have been doing so much research on my diagnosis and trying to figure out what will work best for me, and I have been overwhelmed with information that I did not know where to start. (If you're looking for the science and studies behind their suggestions, you will need to do some additional reading... I am appreciative of this perspective though as it gets exhausting reading the articles and such, and this easily lays out a plan for each step of your cycle) 2) If you burn water - you WILL be able to cook these recipes. Right before all of the recipes are introduced, there is an easy to understand break down of cooking terms, oil smoking points and what that means. They really want you to be able to make the recipes without over thinking it. The recipes I have tried so far are very easy to follow, delicious and are made with love. Things to note: 1) The couple began this journey with the intent on having a family naturally, so the first part kind of mentions that a lot. As that isn't my goal, and with my doctor opted to try some birth control methods, I was a bit skeptical at first if this book was even going to work out for me or be worth the read. At the end of the day though, it definitely is and can be worked into your needs and requirements 2) There is a strong emphasis on restricting certain foods. It strongly encourage a gluten free and dairy free life style.... Honestly I have been making the recipes not gluten free and been thoroughly enjoying them. Maybe one day I'll try GF to see if that helps me but my wallet and love for pasta and bread is not willing to go there (yet). Also the list of restricted/foods to avoid may be triggering for anyone who has battled with an eating disorder in the past. - This is clearly not the intent of the authors, but something worth noting. 3) Most of the recipes contain meat - they emphasize avoiding soy and processed foods so I am not sure if/what could be subbed to make it vegetarian/vegan if this is a concern. It's not much for me, but worth noting.
