Probably a lot of homebakers reach the point when they ask themselves if they need yet another piece of equipment. Some items can be, admittedly, redundant and not strictly necessary for breadmaking, especially on a budget. This is not one of those items. I was really tired of my thick, uneven, and misshapen bread slices; they can be such a bummer after baking a beautiful loaf of bread. This slicer works perfectly with multi- and wholegrain, crusty sourdough loaves straight from the box. It is beautifully designed, and suction cups work well without working TOO well to the point that it would be difficult to remove the slicer from the countertop. The slicer has a nice plastic cover, which is perhaps more for packaging, but I see no reason not to use it for storage.

This seems to be a knock-off of the “Z” brand of bread slicer, at half the cost. We bought the “Z” brand first as we are leary of knock-offs, and this one didn’t have too many reviews. It turned out the “Z” brand released metal shavings when the handle was cranked, so we returned it & bought this one.As it turns out, we needn’t have worried; this one slices my sourdough loaves perfectly. No metal shavings and there’s even an extra feature that the “Z” brand didn’t have — measurements on the platform so you can slice the same thickness from loaf to loaf. One drawback (which the “Z” brand also had): while the suction cups adhere the device to the counter, they do not prevent the device from sliding around. We did take the device apart to wash the blade before first use as there is some kind of black residue on the blade (I expect from the machining process; we did the same with the “Z” brand).On the whole, we are *very* happy with this purchase. It is a game changer for slicing my sourdough bread (which I bake in a clay baker as a loaf, rather than free form or in a Dutch oven). Haven’t tried it on soft, yeast bread yet so can’t speak to how it works on that type of bread.

So far I am in love with this item!!! I have cut a sandwich loaf and a regular artisan loaf and it cuts like butter !! So nice to have uniform slices and no tearing. I have shared the link with so many friends I wish I had a influencer kick back : )Go for it , you will not regret it

I love this bread slicer. It looks great on the shelf when not in use. I bought it to slice homemade bread and it works like a charm. It is definitely a cheap knock-off but feels solid enough. I took off one star because the screws underneath the slicer keeping it solid loosened up. It seems like that will happen from time to time. But that is minor.

I have lots of kitchen convenience items, and this is definitely one of my favorites (I use it to slice crusty sourdough bread). It’s great for a home baker, however I wouldn’t recommend it for a commercial environment, as it does require a little finesse when you get to the last 1/3 of the slice …. When it passes thru the blade channel, the cut end of the slice gets caught under the turn handle, so you have to slow down to guide it under handle. I’ve seen other reviewers mention the suction cups on bottom don’t stick. They work at first, but then lose effectiveness. Not a big deal, just place a cutting board between base and wall for leverage. As a home baker, I love it! …. If I needed it for volume production, I wouldn’t recommend.

I have been looking at bread slicers since I started baking my own bread about a year ago. I value my fingers more than my wife does as she was not on board for a long time. When I came across this slicer and read the reviews I was pretty sure this was the one. I don't think I have ever seen a more positive review in all the years I been using Amazon and this bread slicer actually performs better than I expected base on the reviews. It is a high quality, well designed, and quite versatile as well. I did a quick test on hard salami and was quite amazed at how well it performed with very thin slices which is how I like my Italian Genoa salami. The size is perfect for a kitchen counter and blends in well not too big! My wife's concern. I really don't think the design could improved for better safety. When not in use you can move the carriage in a simple turn to close access to the cutting blade. Cost wise it is not cheap but you do get what you pay for and I could not be more impressed or satisfied!

Game Changer!I've been making sourdough for a year now and struggled to cut narrow slices. Even sharpening my bread knife didn't help. Thin sandwich slices was never gonna happen. I searched all the different options and bought this. Wow, what a difference. Cuts perfect slices. Slicing is smooth, efficient, and effortless. And less crumbs! We can now enjoy bread or toast that's sliced like those in bakeries! The suction cup legs are awesome. They really grip. I keep the slicer on a wooden cutting board (it does not suction to wood ) on the countertop. Its style vibe is contemporary, yet warm, but it does take up some counter space. It will be great for slicing bagels when I have my large family over for breakfast too. Why didn't I buy this sooner?
