Yes, It's Worth It
If you're like me, you're looking at Uncle Flint's fishing kit, then the price, then your shopping cart, then your wishlist...then the price again. It's true. Uncle Flint's Fishing kit is a pricier (perhaps priciest?) survival fishing kit. However, much like they say on their seller page, do not confuse this with lower quality products available. This might cost you a few bucks more than you're comfortable with, but trust me when I say this: You get a lot of bang for that buck. You get every piece of fishing equipment you could possibly want in this kit. Perhaps even a few more. Some of the things I love about this kit is that you get stronger lb test line than in other kits. You get 20 and 40 lb test monofilament fishing line, fifty feet of each. Most other kits you get 10-12ish lb test line. You also get a LOT of hooks, with plenty of variety between them. Some are catfish hooks. You get a couple treble hooks. You get a variety of lures, artificial bait, and the list goes on and on. Honestly, this is less of a bug out bag / survival fishing kit (though it fits that role incredibly adequately) and more of a legitimate, small tackle box. Small enough to fit any survival role, but large enough, with enough variety to take on any kind of fishing you'd ever want to set out to do within reason. That is to say you will never feel, and never be under-gunned nor ill equipped with this fishing kit. Bottom line, it's a complete package. It is more full and complete than any survival fishing kit out there. You pay for it, but this is a case where you definitely get what you're paying for. The only thing that I would perhaps change is simply organizational. There are a few hooks that don't have their own little plastic bag, and a few pieces of gear (like line leaders) that kind of free float within the tin. It packs tight, so it's not jostling around, but sometimes it makes things easy to spill or misplace. For example, I had a treble hook stuck in my aluminum foil. It's not a big deal, and almost impossible to really change since you have so much in such a compact compartment. And while you get a very small, but very adequate printout on general line and knot tying, I wish I knew what some of this gear was specifically for and instructions for their use. That is on me, however, and you, to do your research (if you don't already know) on your gear before you are left in a situation where it's too late. And, again, it's a testament to just how much you get for your money. This isn't just some line and some hooks. It's legit fishing gear. I know if you purchase it, you'll be as ecstatic as I was. Also, I got a little extra gift with my purchase, too. And while it was small and most definitely did not affect my review (and since it was a gesture of good will and might not be uniform between buyers), I won't name what it was. But I will say it was something that has been on my to-buy list for some time. So thank you, Uncle Flint. I really appreciate a quality product and a quality company to support.

Comprehensive and well thougthout fishing kit in a tin.
One of the best and most comprehensive fishing kits in a tin. It works just well.

Lines too short
Everything looks great, but I had a chance to try it at the river and the aproximately two 10' lines provided are too short to be able to cast far enough and reach where the fish could be. Small pliers wood make a good addition even if the price goes up a little. I think there's enough room in the box for more line and plyers I'm gonna add myself.

I am quite satisfied with this kit
I must say, I am quite satisfied with this kit. I was concerned it would be chintzy, just a bunch of odds and ends in an 'altoids' type tin. It's well thought out! I CAN catch fish with this!. Is it top-o-the line pro stuff? no, but it has essentials, and I won't be using this in a Bassmasters competition,--- BUT YOU CAN GET FISH WITH IT! It's made well enough to work, more than a single use too. It has some duplication, -- eg extra hooks - extra poppers, swivils, etc, I expect to loose some in a SHTF situation!. Its well organized with ziplock bags, It's compact, but with enough variety of options as to be useful. swivils, two daredevil style spoons, 20 + 40 Lb test, 50" each on spools, wire leaders, treble hooks, Straight hooks, poppers, bobbins(2) If i need fish to eat, I DON'T want 8 lb test lol. Well worth the extra $ spent.

Do NOT Purchase.
The kit was delivered in someone’s old plastic sandwich bag. There was still some PB&J in the bag. The tin arrived banged up and stupid. The “steel” wire leaders were made of picture hanging wire, just strong enough to tie a trash bag shut. The jig hooks looked like they were painted by a 5 year old after nap time. The fishing line is cheap, wrapped around cheap line holders that don’t hold the cheap line and it popped out of the tin like a jack-in-the-box. One of the fish lines is bright neon yellow because sure it is. Both lines are at least half the length specified. $30 is entirely too much for this kit although I applaud the lengths Uncle Flint went to in order to make some money. The cost of this kit should be $5 tops and considered only as a stocking stuffer.

There is a price to pay for convenience.
This is the single most complete kit for the price I can find here on Amazon. The spoons and lures seem of good quality. Yes, you could indeed pick through your tackle box, buy a couple items from big W, and put this together for cheaper. But that is not the point. There is a price to pay for convenience, and this is it. Quality items well packed into as small a container as possible. Perfect addition to my Bug Out Bag. You should have no worries on the quality of the components in this kit. Buy with confidence!

I'm impressed with this fishing kit
For months I have been trying to put together a kit like this one but finding each piece individually sold was impossible for me to find. The only way to put a kit like this together is by buying items in packs but then you will pay more than what this kit cost. After receiving this fishing kit I feel very impressed by the quality of each item I even added a few hooks and weights that I had from the kit I was trying to put together.
