Going from strength to strength
Not sure where The Walking Dead was going about 2 or 3 volumes ago. The last one and now this one put it right back on track. Excellent read. It has been a while since I could not wait for the next one and I can't wait for the next one.

The Walking Dead
Another good volume of the series that hasn't really let us down and has been good enough to spawn a decent TV series and video games, Although one of the games is terrible (Survival Instinct) the point and click ones (Seasons one and two so far) from TellTale games are great, In fact if you like graphic novels and you like the Walking Dead ones you really should check out "The Walking Dead" games from Telltale that are available on Steam, It's basically an interactive on screen graphic novel where you get to shape the events to some extent, Things like who dies and who lives, Where you hide, when you run, It was a lot of fun, even for an old man like me. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

Sets things up nicely after recent shocking events
This is the latest volume in The Walking Dead series, tales of survival in a world of the dead.I have to admit to being stunned after the last volume of the walking dead (17) and wondering where this was going next.Kirkman has handled this beautifully here. There's no one dimensional bad guy here and no stereotype being recycled, this is a whole new kind of monster But if this shows us anything it's that this is a new kind of Rick, a new kind of Carl and the survivors are not who they were. This is building beautifully and I couldn't put this down racing through it in one session.Truly gripping and a sign the series is still thriving.

Thumbs Up!
This is a subtle volume. Not a quiet before the storm, not an exercise in the boredom involved in the aftermath of a crisis, and not a tantalising use of suspense. This is important shit being revealed.Negan. That’s who is on your mind. Clearly he is a monster, worse than the Governor if the events of the last volume are anything to go by. This volume tells you more about him. You won’t love him after this book but, thanks to Kirkman’s skilful writing, you will see he is a complex character. The brainless mass of the zombie antagonists demand a deep and sophisticated cast. This is the end of the world and people have been stripped of the social veneer that lubricated civilisation. Is the best thing for a community a strong, harsh leader who is consistent and who obeys his own rules? How does the unpredictable and emotionally fraught Rick compare to that standard?A lot of this book’s strength and intelligence is below the surface and relies on you to ask the questions about what it shows you. There are some shocks but less than the average book. It won’t let you forget what happened last time either. That wound will take time to heal.Nothing here will question your faith in this series and like all books now the ending just makes you want the next one even more. Thumbs Up!

Hope, purpose, dreams and the future all hang in the balance!
This is the next chapter in what can only be described as one of the toughest spots Rick and the others can possibly find themselves in.Do things get worse, or will thing get better from here?Hope, purpose, dreams and the future all hang in the balance as the group try to find their feet again, cling to one and other and make the next step together... Or will they?Time to find out...The Walking Dead is one of the best comic book series I have ever read and reviewed! I would highly recommend this to everyone and anyone, as long as you had read the other 17 volumes so you know the characters and story thus far.Well worth the investment - Enjoy!

I watched the TV show first (caught up as of 3/6/2016) before reading and holy crap these are awesome
I've purchased all volumes up to 22 and the TV show has just about caught up to wear I am in the novels. These books are friggen awesome. I don't read much and my buddy lent me VOL 1 after he knew I liked the show. Well, I burned through the first one and then just went on a tear buying 4 volumes at a time...the price is pretty good for what you get out of these. $9-$15 is the range I've paid per novel, I'm not sure why they aren't the same but anyways, I keep buying them none the less. The story was written before the TV Show and the show follows the story but there is some differences. The written story is more violent and graphic then the tv show but the tv show does a decent job of sticking with main ideas. I've noticed that certain plot things that happen in the book also happen in the show but there is a unique twist like a different character it happens to or something like that. Which makes reading these volumes great cuz I have some idea of where the story is going (after having watched all tv episodes) but there are still surprises. If you like the TV show and haven't read these, give it a try and you will get a whole new experience of the Walking Dead story. I'm putting this same review under every volume I've purchased (1-22) so people can see it. go buy these!
